EMMERDALE star Matthew Wolfenden has shown off his new hair disaster – after he let his 10-year-old son go wild with a beard trimmer.
The actor – who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV soap – let son Buster have a go at shaving his head with his beard trimmer, but it was patchy at best.
He posted a picture of it on Instagram and joked: “”Beard trimmer head shave! Not the best cut I’ve ever had. Thanks Buster.”
His wife, actress Charley Webb then saved the day and finished him off properly.
He posted a picture of his completed look adding: “With a little help from mum…”.
The family are definitely hair icons with Charley previously hitting back at trolls who insulted their sons’ long hair styles.
Not one to take the abuse lying down, Charley – who is mum to Buster, 9, Bowie, 3, and two-month old Ace with husband Matthew Wolfenden – took to her Instagram to silence the haters.
The actress, 31, posted a picture of her eldest son Buster, 9, sporting shiny shoulder-length locks and wearing a t-shirt with the slogan Long Hair, Don’t Care #Boy.
Alongside the snap Charley wrote a lengthy caption which hit back at her critics.
She said: “I get asked so many times on here why my kids have got long hair. ‘Why don’t you cut it?’ Or, ‘they look like girls’. The answer is really simple, because we like it and more importantly they like it.
“I absolutely don’t feel like I need to explain it to anyone who has an opinion but I just think life would be so much easier if we all just focused on our own lives. Don’t let my kids hair worry you.”
The Bury-born lass, who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap, continued her tirade against keyboard warriors, adding: “I think people think they have a right to have an opinion because of social media. Maybe you do. But try keeping it to yourself, it’s not important to us what you think of how our kids look. Or how we look. Or their names or whatever it is you might want to comment on.
“I was always taught, if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Try practicing it peeps. There’s enough awful stuff in the world without being mean to each other. They’ve got another t shirt that says, I’m a boy, I’ve just got better hair than you. True dat.”
Charley’s candid, defiant post attracted a outpouring of support from her followers, including her celebrity pals.
Michelle Keegan posted a series of clapping hand emojis underneath the post.
Writer and mum blogger Giovanna Fletcher said: “Well said! Also fully supportive of the other tee…look at that SHINE!! I’m jealous Xxxx.”
Dancing on Ice professional Matt Evers wrote: “Preach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Catherine Tyldesley added several emojis of hands held up in praise, plus a heart-eyes emoji.
And former Corrie actress Lucy Jo Hudson weighed in: “Wow, he’s the double of you. Little stunner he is xxx.”
