HOLLYOAKS star Kieron Richardson has revealed that the show has ditched kissing and fighting scenes because of social distancing.

The 34-year-old actor plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap, and with filming currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kieron admitted things will be “very different” when he returns to set.

Kieron has spilled the beans on social distancing life in Hollyoaks

He explained: “It’s a great opportunity to have had this time away, come back fresh, but working with a different experience because we’re not going to be able to do kissing or fighting scenes.

“I’m excited to get back and see how Ste will be in a two-metre distance!”

Kieron went on to tell Digital Spy that he doesn’t want Hollyoaks to have any coronavirus storylines when they do start filming again, insisting that the public have had enough exposure to that in their real lives.

The star shared: “If we are trying to escape reality and what’s happening in the world, we know it’s there and we don’t have to see it too much on television.

“From what I’ve heard, the other soaps are going to explore it, but I always feel like Hollyoaks is a little bit different with our approach compared to the other soaps.”

While Coronation Street is set to resume filming next week, and EastEnders and Emmerdale shortly afterwards, it is not yet known when cast and crew will return to set for Hollyoaks.

Filming was halted in March, with the broadcaster rationing episodes to just three a week in a bid to avoid running out of content during lockdown.
