HOLLYOAKS star Kieron Richardson has revealed that Ste Hay has been sleeping on the streets ahead of his return to the soap.

The reformed racist was forced to leave the village last year after becoming brasinwashed by a racist far right terrorist group.

His involvement with the vile thugs saw a bomb go off and leave Yas temporarily deafened – and their friends and neighbours horrified.

Ste had tried to escape the group but ended up being forced into a terrifying clifftop confrontation where the gang’s leader Stuart was killed by his own son.

Now after time in a deprogramming programme, Ste has managed to turn his thoughts around and isn’t plagued with racist hatred.

However, his life has not gone so well, and actor Kieron has revealed his past has meant his new life has fallen apart.

He moved to Newcastle and got a job, although when his employer found out about his past, he was sacked,” Kieron told Inside Soap.

“Even off-screen, Ste’s very much been living with the consequences of his actions.”

And when he does finally make it back to the village, he comes face to face with Yaz.

But with his guilt overwhelming, he rushes off to find his family, who aren’t all thrilled to see him back.

“Ultimately, I think they’re happy to see him,” the actor added.

“They were willing to accept him before but Ste kind of ran away.

“The trouble is, that’s it’s not just Tony [Hutchinson] now that Ste has to win around.

“[He] has to convince everyone who owns the Hutch that he’s worthy of a job there, and it doesn’t go very well.

“Ste’s hoping that the whole village will forgive him eventually, because while what he did was horrendous, he was groomed – let’s just hope he learned from it all.”
