I’M A Celebrity star Beverley Callard has said she was visited by the ghost of Deidre Barlow actress Anne Kirkbride on the Coronation Street set.

The 63-year-old has played Liz McDonald for 30 years, most of which were with Corrie legend Anne.

Ever since the soap stalwart’s death in January 2015, Beverley has felt her friend around her on the cobbles.

Speaking to the Star, she said the set was sometimes “eerily cold”.

She continued: “I don’t want to get too personal. But after Annie Kirkbride died, I always had a photo of her in my dressing room until my last day.

“And when I went on to the Barlow set, I know I could still feel her.”

Beverley was last seen on the Cobbles back in June when she stopped troublemakers Jordan and Chelsey from threatening Carla Connor.

Viewers did not know if that would be the last time they would see the former Rovers landlady in Weatherfield.

But tonight HOAR exclusively revealed she has been lined up for an explosive return next year.

Beverley said she plans to return to Coronation Street next year

When asked if she’ll return to the ITV soap after leaving I’m A Celeb’s Grwych castle, she said she is in talks with soap bosses but the coronavirus pandemic could cause delays.

She said: “Yeah I think they maybe are planning that. At this moment in time I just don’t know.

Beverley’s last appearance on Coronation Street came in June 2020

“Of course, I should have been on stage now, then I should have gone straight into panto, which is another reason why I said yes to this (I’m A Celebrity).

“Covid has made everyone’s world turn upside down so I know Covid permitting I’m busy next year hopefully, I’ve got two years of work lined up when I left Coronation Street, being a paranoid actor, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
