TAKING up residence in Coronation Street in 1983, the Webster family have been at the core of many dramatic storylines throughout the years.

But amid divorces, betrayals and deaths in the cobbles, it’s hard to wrap your head around who is part of the family.

The Websters in Coronation Street

Bill Webster (1942-)

Bill lives in Germany

Bill was portrayed by actor Peter Armitage.

The father of Debbie, Carl and Kevin, Bill moved in to Weatherfield shortly after the latter arrived, in 1984.

Before he retired, Bill worked as a builder and a labourer.

He was married twice with Kevin and Debbie being born during his first marriage to Alison, who died of cancer in 1980 when their children were just fourteen and eleven.

Bill was married two more times, first to Elaine Prior in 1985, and to Maureen Elliott in 1998.

He met Elaine in 1984, shortly after moving in to Coronation Street.

This led to the couple leaving the cobbles for Southampton and the Germany, where they welcomed their son Carl.

Elaine left Bill for a younger man and he returned to Weatherfield in 1995.

While he was married to Maureen, Bill had an affair with Audrey Roberts but their relationship eventually failed.

He then moved on with Pam Hobsworth, to whom he got engaged in 2011 but the pair argued often – which led to Bill having a heart attack.

Bill made his last appearance in Coronation Street in December, 2011, and left for Germany two years later.

He has since suffered a second heart attack and even a fall, prompting his son Kevin to rush at his bedside.

Off-screen, Peter Armitage died at 79 years old on November 30, 2018.

Kevin Webster (1965)

Michael Le Vell as Kevin

Perhaps one of the most iconic of all familiar faces in Coronation Street.

Played by Michael Le Vell, Kevin first moved into the cobbles in 1983, before his father Bill and sister Debbie followed him.

The chirpy young man found love in the form of Sally Seddon, whom he married three years after moving in.

The couple bought No.13 from Hilda Ogden in 1987 and welcomed two daughters, Rosie and Sophie in 1990 and in 1994.

He has gone through a rocky marriage with Sally, marrying Alison Wakefield in 2000.

But after their new-born son Jake died from a Group B Streptococcus infection, Alison threw herself under the wheels of a lorry.

Kevin managed to persuade Sally to take him back for their daughters’ sake and they remarried.

Seven years later, however, Kevin fell for Molly and fathered her son Jack in 2009, which they both kept secret.

Molly made a deathbed confession to Sally a year later and the couple separated for good.

Freshly divorced, once again, Kevin picked up the pieces and re-bought No.13 to raise Jack as a single father.

After failed relationships with Jenny Bradley and Anna Windass, Kevin found love again with Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and they tied the knot in 2021.

He, Abi and Jack now live at No.13 and is the co-owner of Webster’s’ Auto Centre.

Meanwhile, actor Michael has not yet decided to turn away from Weatherfield.

Sally Metcalfe (1967)

Sally is a long-standing resident in Coronation Street

Much like her former husband Kevin, Sally is a well-known face in the cobbles.

Played by actress and Dancing on Ice star Sally Dynevor, the character is a machinery supervisor at the Underworld factory as well as a local political personality.

She first moved in with Kevin in 1986, after marrying him and escaping a domineering father.

Sally welcomed two children with Kevin, Rosie and Sophie.

After divorcing Kevin one last time, Sally went on to marry cabbie Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and lives at No.4 Coronation Street with him and his daughter Faye Windass (Ellie Leach).

She was also sent to prison after she was accused of fraud, where she befriended Abi Franklin.

Debbie Webster (1968)

Debbie is Kevin’s sister

The property tycoon sister of Kevin Webster and co-owned of the Viaduct Bistro, Debbie has been played by Sue Devaney.

She was just fifteen years old when she moved to Coronation Street.

Although her career is thriving, she was first used to being an underachiever as a teenaged, as she far more interested in seeing her boyfriend Dazz Isherwood.

She eventually found success as a property developer following her stay away from Weatherfield, when her father moved to Southampton with his new wife Elaine.

One of her main storylines involve a scheme with her former partner Ray Crosby to redevelop the street, buying up the properties.

She eventually turned against Ray when it was revealed he had sexually assaulted Faye Windass and made him sign over his business empire before betraying him to the police.

A wealthy woman, she remains close to her brother Kevin and his son Jack, consistently looking out for them.

She still remains a recurring character and the bubbly actress that portrays her has become a fan favourite.

Rosie Webster (1990)

Helen Flanagan as Rosie Webster

Game show assistant Rosie was born on December 24, 1990, and is the eldest of Kevin and Sally’s daughters.

First played by Emma Collinge from 1990 until 1999, Helen Flanagan took on the role in 2000.

Her storylines include her relationship with Craig Harris, with whom she also shared a goth phase.

While Craig wanted Rosie to join in Berlin, she refused and let him go alone, leaving for Paris instead.

She worked as a PA at Underworld but, as she fancied herself a femme fatale, returned to school to seduce her teacher, John Stape, this ruining his relationship with Fiz Brown.

As punishment, John held her captive in his grandmother’s attic for two weeks.

After leaving school, Rosie took on modelling jobs and left Weatherfield in 2012 to star in a reality show, in London.

After working in Miami, she sacked and returned to the cobbles in 2017, where she worked as a PA at Barlow Legal Services.

One year later, she left Weatherfield once again, accepting an offer to be assistant on a television game show in Japan.

Off-screen, actress Helen Flanagan is far from Japan and has even been seen cheering her on-screen mother Sally in Dancing on Ice.

Helen left Coronation Street a final time in 2018 to go on maternity leave and welcome her daughter Delilah.

But she hasn’t been seen in the ITV soap since, leading certain fans to believe that she may never return.

Speaking to OK!, Helen responded to these rumours by claiming: “That’s a load of rubbish.”

“I honestly don’t know where these stories come from. I’ve never said that. The door is left open”, she continued.

Helen then reminded all Corrie fans that she is also the mother of a son named Charlie, born in March, 2021.

“I wouldn’t go back at the moment, as Charlie isn’t even 1 yet. Your children are only young once, so I don’t want to miss out on anything”, she concluded, teasing that her return could be in the works.

Sophie Webster (1994)

Sophie hasn’t been seen since 2019

While Rosie is living the life, her sister Sophie has had a much harder time.

The youngest of Kevin and Sally’s children, she was portrayed by Brooke Vincent from 2004 to 2019.

Somewhat overlooked in favour of her older sister, her storylines include her becoming a practising Christian and coming out as gay.

Her first girlfriend was her best friend Sian Powers and they were due to marry in 2011.

However, the wedding fell through as Sophie felt too guilty to share her vows after kissing Amber Kalirai.

Sophie has since had relationships with Maddie Heath, Jenna Kamara and Kate Connor, among others.

After securing a job at the Corner Shop and being involved in her dad Kevin’s Autocentre (by being given 21% of the garage as a birthday present), Sophie came down with appendicitis in Miami with no health insurance.

This convinced her to drop the business and take on her stepfather Tim’s old window cleaning round.

She entered the restaurant business and managed Speed Daal in 2018 and left the cobbles in October, 2019.

In the likes of her on-screen sister, actress Brooke has had to respond to rumours about her leaving Weatherfield for good as she hasn’t been seen in the programme since her exit.

The 29-year-old spoke to The Daily Star about a potential return to Coronation Street and patience will be key for fans wishing to see her again.

“I left to have my first little boy [Mexx] and then I always knew I wanted my children close together, so then I had my other little boy [Monroe] and I’m just being a mum at the minute”, Brooke said.

“Anybody that’s got children will tell you how hard it is to even put the washing in the washing machine.”

“I’m just being a mum and getting myself back and trying to get us into a routine and focusing on them.”

While Brooke did mention missing her fellow soap stars, she has no plans of returning to the show.

Jack Webster (2010)

The son of Kevin Webster and Molly Dobbs, although he was first believed to be the son of Tyrone, Jack has been portrayed by actor Kyran Bowes since 2016.

Mere months following his birth, Jack and his mother were trapped inside the Corner Shop wreckage following a tram crash, during which Molly tragically lost her life.

Molly then revealed Jack’s true parentage to Sally, which convinced her to file for divorce from Kevin.

Jack went through a dramatic beginning to his life and things never really quietened down for the 11-year-old.

He was notably kidnapped by his father’s unstable girlfriend Jenny Bradley and even underwent a foot amputation after developing sepsis.

Jack now lives with his father Kevin and stepmother Abi at 13 Coronation Street.

Abi Webster

Also known as Abi Franklin, the character is portrayed by actress Sally Carman.

A former drug abuser, she mainly relied on her eldest son Seb in paying the bills and looking after her younger children Charlie and Lexi.

Following an overdose, the twins were put into foster care in 2017, which prompted Abi to put them up for adoption.

She began working as a mechanic at Webster’s Autocentre, determined to clean up her act.

But when Tracy Barlow sabotaged Michelle Connor’s car to frame her, believing she was having an affair with Steve McDonald, Seb avenged her by trashing Preston’s Petals.

Abi took the blame to protect her son and was sent to prison, where she first met Sally.

Following her release, Abi moved in to No.4 and fell for Sally’s former husband Kevin.

The pair were engaged but Abi’s son Seb was brutally attacked on the night of her hen do in 2021 and died from his injuries.

Abi has been trying to seek justice for Seb ever since and tied the knot with Kevin in November, 2021.

She still resides in No.13 alongside her husband and his son Jack, although she has been unfaithful to Kevin with solicitor Imran Habeeb.

Other family members include:

  • Molly Dobbs (1984-2010), shop assistant and Tyrone Dobbs’ wife who had an affair with Kevin Webster, mother of Jack.
  • Jake Webster (2000), Kevin and Alison Wakefield’s son, died soon after his birth after being diagnosed with a fatal Group B Strep infection.
  • Alison Wakefield, the second wife of Kevin Webster, died on June 7, 2000, two days after her son Jake passed away. Died after running into the path of a lorry.
