CORONATION Street have confirmed that TV legend Paula Wilcox will be joining the cast in the guest role of Elaine, Geoff’s former partner.
Elaine will play a pivotal role in the harrowing coercive storyline between Geoff and Yasmeen. But is she going to expose Geoff’s true colours and turn Tim against his Dad? Here’s the lowdown…

Is Paula Wilcox’s character going to expose Geoff’s abuse in Coronation Street?
Corrie fans know that evil Geoff has managed to manipulate Tim into believing that his mother was an abusive alcoholic.
But viewers have long been predicting that she’ll come to the rescue and expose the abuse she suffered at the hands of the monster.
One fan tweeted: “Tim to the rescue?? He’s a bit slow isn’t he, wonder what happened to his mum and what he thinks happened, two different stories I bet.”
Another added: “Hoping Tim tracks down his mum and maybe has a different conversation with her now he’s grown. May find out she didn’t leave in the way he’s always been told.”
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Ian Bartholomew – who plays Geoff – hinted that Elaine could expose dark secrets from the Metcalfe’s family history: “Geoff has basically lied to his son Tim for years about the relationship with his mother, Geoff’s first wife. I believe we’ll explore things with Geoff and Tim a little deeper.
“I always wanted to do that, it would be good to find out more about their past. It could be the key to how the story develops.”
But with Corrie yet to confirm exact plot details, fans will have to tune in to find out whether she speaks out about his abuse.
Will Tim’s mum turn him against Geoff in Coronation Street?
Corrie fans are baffled as to how Tim Metcalfe hasn’t put two and two together and realised Geoff has been abusing Yasmeen after witnessing a number of suspicious events.
One blaring sign occurred when Tim found Yasmeen locked in Geoff’s magic box after he heard her crying out.
He also walked in on Geoff deleting footage from his laptop of his final argument with Yasmeen – and didn’t say a word.
But with his wife Sally now having very vocally sided with Yasmeen, might some harsh truths from his mother be all it takes for Tim to finally realise his dad is a monster?
Joe Duttine, who plays Tim on the ITV soap, has admitted that his character may start to doubt his dad’s innocence in the coming weeks.
Speaking to TV Times, he said: “At this stage, he wants to believe his dad – how could this man he has loved all his life do such a thing?
“I think the more evidence that is stacked against Geoff from people Tim trusts, the more Tim might turn. [Tim] might be a bit gullible, but he’s not stupid.”
What has actress Paula Wilcox starred in?
Actress Paula Wilcox has been a fixture on our screens for decades and first appeared on the cobbles in 1969 as Janice, the youngster sister of Tracy Barlow’s father Ray Langton.
The star went on to appear in a number of 1970s sitcoms including The Lovers and the sitcom The Liver Birds.
More recently she starred in Upstart Crow and Boomers, and from 2007 to 2008 she played the role of Hilary Potts in Emmerdale.
