THE end of the year will be filled with new twists and turns but how will Weatherfield residents cope with all the drama?

As Griff Reynolds continues to wreak havoc in Coronation Street, one family’s Christmas turns into a nightmare. Get the lowdown.

Christmas doesn’t go as planned at the Barlows’

But there’s massive danger ahead for Max Turner

1. Max covers for Griff

Max Turner’s grooming storyline continues this week and takes a very nasty turn.

The lad played by Paddy Bever recently formed a bond with Griff Reynolds (portrayed by Michael Condron).

Coming up on ITV, Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) is uneasy when Griff invites the troubled teen on a camping trip.

He later does some digging on the identity of Griff’s financial backer and his benefactor is soon revealed – who could it be?

In later scenes, Max heads off with Griff on their camping trip but his father David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) isn’t happy about it.

The latter may have been right in protesting, unhappy with the company the lad has been keeping.

Max is horrified when the camping trip doesn’t end the way he expected.

In later scenes, Griff manages to convince Max to lie to the authorities about the events of the camping trip.

Is Max really ready to lie for Griff?

Will Spider manage to hold Griff accountable?

2. Spider makes shock discovery

As viewers may remember, Spider made an explosive comeback and even managed to rekindle his relationship with Toyah Battersby earlier this year.

But after it was revealed he was still married, it became clear he was also keeping his true profession a secret from everyone in the cobbles.

The character has been keeping an eye on racist thug Griff for several months.

Coming up, while Max and Griff get ready to go camping, Spider does some digging into the identity of the latter’s financial backer and he soon discovers who really is the benefactor.

Could it be a familiar face?

Toyah finds out something horrific

3. Toyah learns a horrific secret

More trouble arises for Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) who was already involved in the death of her husband Imran Habeeb.

The character has been laying low since becoming a widow but this week of drama won’t be sparing her.

Toyah’s relationship with Spider has been shaken by lies and secrets.

This week, another horrifying truth is added on to the pile.

Toyah makes a highly troubling discovery but Spider implores her to keep quiet.

Could it have a link with Griff?

Is Daisy’s health on the line

4. Daisy gets sad news

Daisy Midgeley’s health could be in jeopardy after she found a lump in her breast.

The Rovers barmaid played by Charlotte Jordan gets devastating news this week.

Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) is terrified to be facing another potential loss, three years after his wife Sinead succumbed to cervical cancer.

As a result, Daniel refuses to talk to Daisy, arguing he’s too weak to be of any support amid her ordeal.

Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) hatches a plan and tells Daisy he understands her anger at Daniel’s cowardice.

But he soon has a surprising request for her as he asks her to read the article Daniel has been writing.

Daisy obliges and is moved to read about how she has helped him to love again after loss.

The pair eventually reconcile and attend Daisy’s appointment together at the breast clinic.

But Daisy is in for some heart-breaking news – Daniel reveals that his article failed to make the grade and won’t be published.

The barmaid encourages him to turn back to teaching as she believes he’s wasting his talents – how will he react?

A burglary ruins Christmas

5. Christmas is ruined for one family

After struggling to reconnect and get their romance back on track for several months, Daniel makes a huge decision for his future with Daisy.

He approaches Jenny Connor and asks for her blessing… with an engagement ring he plans on surprising Daisy with.

But things will be taking another turn for Daisy and the Barlow clan.

When the couple head over to No.1 with Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow, they are horrified to see all the Christmas presents have gone from under their tree.

To make matters worse, Daniel tells Jenny the burglars spotted Daisy’s engagement ring and snatched it.

Who is responsible?

Fiz won’t be enjoying Christmas

6. Fiz is devastated

Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) finally accepted to marry Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) after jumping through hurdles with him for years.

But while the mechanic plans a surprise wedding, the machinist is feeling deflated.

She’s even convinced she’s about to spend the worst Christmas yet in the cobbles.

Coming up, Tyrone begins to worry that his wedding plans could be scuppered when Fiz suggests they book a cottage in the Lakes for the big day.

Later on, Fiz frets over Christmas, unaware of Tyrone sharing a secret smile with both Hope and Ruby.

The girls later need to go through dress fittings for the nuptials, forcing Tyrone to cancel his cinema plans with Fiz.

7. Engagement plans turn sour

Although a handful of residents and viewers will know why Tyrone is being so flaky, Fiz feels disappointed and lonely.

She laments to Maria that she suspects it’ll be the worst Christmas ever – while Tyrone predicts it’s bound to be the best, unbeknownst to her.

As mentioned above, Tyrone plans a surprise wedding for both him and Fiz.

He goes above and beyond, going over his wedding plans with Maria Connor and Beth Tinker (respectively portrayed by Samia Longchambon and Lisa George).

But with Fiz feeling neglected, will it really all go as planned?

Coronation Street airs on ITV.
