CHRISTMAS is making its way to the eponymous ITV village but it won’t stop any drama from stirring things up.

Two Emmerdale villagers are on edge when it’s clear their secrets could come to light and have devastating repercussions.

Mackenzie Boyd’s one night stand with Chloe Harris is close to being exposed

His sister Moira Dingle is dealing with her own secrets

Meanwhile, Charity Dingle gets on the wrong side of the law

1. Charity gets arrested

Before residents get to enjoy the Christmas festivities they may have planned, there’s a huge brawl ahead in Yorkshire.

In recent scenes, Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) was left bloodied by Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) after Chas’ affair with Al Chapman finally came to light.

However, her feud with Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) gets out of hand and escalates during baby Esther’s christening.

Worse still, Charity will be arrested for a fight breaking out during the event this week.

It all begins when Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) and her sister Amy get confrontational around Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Charity.

They soon rub Charity up the wrong way by arguing.

Despite this, Chas tries to keep the peace by inviting them to the Christening which leaves Charity unimpressed.

Charles Anderson begins the service but Charity is unable to contain herself and her feud with Amy puts the christening in jeopardy.

The ceremony is derailed when Charity and Amy continue to argue and a brutal fight soon ensues.

PC Swirling is forced to intervene after witnessing the debacle.

When both culprits give their statements, the police office places Charity under arrest.

Nate Robinson is on to Mackenzie Boyd

2. Mack’s secret is exposed

Since spending the night with Chloe Harris, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has been on tenterhooks, mortified she’d tell his partner Charity he was the father of her baby.

Unfortunately for the hunk, his own friend Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) is actually on to him.

After her fight with the Woolpack landlady, Amy nurses a bruised wrist from her altercation with Charity and Chloe is feeling conflicted about how things escalated.

Charity is released after her arrest and puts on a strong front to Mackenzie – but he has a lot more on his mind than she suspects.

The heartthrob turns to Chloe again and tries to coerce her into changing her statement.

But things don’t go as planned and Chloe is left out in the cold.

When he sees Mack’s reaction, Nate begins to have suspicions something isn’t right.

Will he put two and two together?

Chloe Harris and Amy Wyatt can’t see eye to eye

3. Chloe is made homeless

Elsewhere in the Dales, while her mother Kerry Wyatt gone, Chloe Harris is relying on her sister Amy’s hospitality.

But it soon runs out following Amy’s altercation with Charity Dingle.

Chloe, worried the latter could go to prison, attempts to get Amy to see reason about her false police statement.

Yet Amy doesn’t budge and, instead, turns on Chloe by suggesting she once again moves out.

A worried Chloe is increasingly defeated as she knows she has nowhere to live over Christmas.

Before long, she lies to Amy that she has found herself a place to stay.

Amy is later awash with guilt at the thought of her kicking Chloe out.

Kyle Winchester is struggling to keep quiet about Al’s death

4. Kyle comes clean

Meanwhile, Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) is crumbling under pressure as he tries to keep his involvement in Al Chapman’s death a secret

And while his father Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) remains in prison, Kyle is being closely watched by Moira and his mother Amy Wyatt.

But both are finding it just as hard to get back to a seemingly normal life.

Coming up, the pair of women discuss bringing Kyle and Isaac to the choir event just as Amy worries about letting her son out of her sight.

The family later gets to the village hall and into the festive spirit.

But when Amy and Moira lose Kyle for a split second, they later see him speaking to PC Swirling about Cain.

Panicking, they swoop in before anything is revealed but the police officer figures out that something isn’t right and is troubled by their jittery behaviour.

Amy and Moira are desperate to find out what Kyle told PC Swirling but only end up upsetting him further.

They quickly hatch a plan to give the boy the best ever Christmas in an attempt of keeping his mind of off things and returning his life back to normal.

In private, however, Amy struggles to pull herself together and the pressure also mounts on an overwhelmed Moira.

Cain remains in prison for Al Chapman’s death

5. Cain gets a troubling letter

Thrown behind bars after pleading guilty to Al Chapman’s murder, Cain Dingle is isolated from his loved ones.

This week, while in his prison cell, an officer hands Cain some letters from somebody who has been writing to him frequently during his incarceration.

But Cain is disinterested and, once the prison officer is out of sight, he rips the letter up.

The mysterious individual may have found another way to get through to him.

When Moira pays him a visit, telling him Isaac and Kyle received two Christmas presents from an unknown person, Cain hides his concern.

She then informs him that she has left his mother Faith’s Christmas card with the guard.

However, Cain later ignores it when it’s handed to him, not ready for its contents.

Instead, he asks for a phone call before being left on edge when the guard tells him he’ll see what he can do.

Cain eventually gets what he wants and is seen on the phone to a mysterious person in the prison corridor.

The prison officer looks over at Cain who is forced to lower his voice.

But his explosive temper makes another appearance when he’s met with refusal from the person on the other end of the line and he slams the phone.

Sam and Lydia gets some devastating news

6. Death leaves Sam and Lydia reeling

As Esther’s christening is underway, Sam and Lydia Dingle (James Hooton and Karen Blick) are looking forward to being there for their granddaughter.

However, Lydia is underwhelmed by Samson’s refusal to attend.

The day only gets worse for the couple as they’re soon left to have a tough conversation with village vet Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry).

Both Sam and Lydia have been concerned about their pigs which prompted to call in Rhona to take a look at them.

They’re heartbroken to learn that their last remaining pig must be put down.

Will they go through with it?

Emmerdale couple Ethan and Marcus are ready for a change

7. Ethan and Marcus make huge decision

Since his arrival in the Dales, Marcus Dean (Darcy Grey) has been getting closer to local solicitor Ethan Anderson (Emile John).

As their relationship continues to evolve, the couple make a huge decision for their future.

The lovebirds are ready to find themselves a new home.

Their search for the perfect place continues next week but is soon interrupted by Amelia Spencer (played by Daisy Campbell).

Much to their surprise, the teen mum suggests they buy Harriet Finch’s house but the property is out of their budget.

Yet Ethan decides it could be just their luck and convinces Marcus to put a bid in for it.

Will Marcus go along with it?

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV.
