CATHY Hope’s behaviour has spiralled out of control in the Dales and her father Bob struggles to cope.

The teen leaves Emmerdale next week after a row with the B&B owner leads to an explosive altercation.

Her behaviour has left many in the Dales worried

Her headteacher makes a shocking suggestion

Cathy (portrayed by Gabrielle Dowling) became involved in a never-before-seen storyline when she opened up to Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) about her heavy periods.

But it soon became clear there would be more to the plot when Cathy’s behaviour was increasingly erratic.

Village GP Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) then suspected Cathy may be suffering from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) but an official diagnosis has yet to be made.

Next week, the ITV soap shows how difficult life with the condition can be for Cathy as her headteacher suggests to her father Bob (Tony Audenshaw) that she defer a year.

She reminds them that Cathy won’t be granted an access arrangement without a formal diagnosis.

Cathy is desperately trying not to be held back a year and she persuades Miss Cathcart to let her take her exams.

She later tries to secretly drown her sorrows alongside fellow troubled teen Marshall Hamston.

The pair get caught by their families and, the following day, Cathy is ashamed of her actions.

Unfortunately, Cathy is still in need of help to control her mood swings and she flies off the handle – before striking Bob by accident, scratching him with her keys.

Bob winces, still holding his bleeding cheek but he doesn’t hold it against her.

In later scenes, as the father-daughter duo cool off from the day’s events, Bob gives Cathy a hug, unaware she has a plan.

As he leaves, a lost Cathy takes a packed rucksack from behind the sofa.

Once outside, she stares back at The Grange with her eyes filled with tears and turns away into the night.

Can Bob stop her?
