God. Is there anything more irritating than settling in for your evening soap fix only to discover the TV schedule's been thrown into complete disarray? I learned this teh hard way yesterday when I texted my mum about tonight's EastEnders drama only for her to inform me it had been shoved to an earlier slot.
If you're planning to catch EastEnders in its usual Monday 7:30pm slot on BBC One tonight, you're in for a nasty surprise.
Why Is Everything Suddenly Different?
The Beeb has decided to mess with our carefully planned viewing schedules (again) by moving EastEnders to the earlier time of 6:50pm. Why? To make room for that live-action Dumbo remake from Disney that nobody asked for. I watched it back in 2019 with my nephew and spent the entire time wondering why they bothered. Now it's eating into my soap time at 7:20pm.
After the elephant shenanigans, they're airing Paddy and Chris: Road Tripping at 9pm.

At least there's one silver lining - you can already watch today's EastEnders on iPlayer if you're desperate to know what happens next with Sonia and her dad Terry.
Football 1, Emmerdale 0
It's even worse over on ITV. Emmerdale fans are getting completely stiffed tonight.
The channel's showing Burnley v Sheffield United at 5:30pm instead. Championship football! In April! Like that's more important than finding out what happens next in the Dales.
I still remember when my ex made me miss a crucial Emmerdale episode back in 2018 because of some "important" football match. We broke up three weeks later. Coincidence? I think not.

Tomorrow Brings Sweet Relief (For Emmerdale Fans)
If you're having withdrawal symptoms from your Emmerdale fix, don't panic too much. The show returns tomorrow with a full hour-long episode to kick off the week's village drama.
Listen. I've been following this John Sugden storyline like a hawk, and I'm telling you - it's about to explode. The guy murdered Nate Robinson! And now everyone knows!
Oliver Farnworth (who plays John and is looking pretty good for 42, I must say) has been teasing what's coming next, and it sounds properly juicy.
John Sugden: Village Psycho With A Plan?
Those flashback scenes were wild... showing him killing Nate, stalking Chas, drugging her, framing Ella, and then poisoning Mark. The man's been BUSY.
Farnworth says John's been spinning quite the web for himself in the village. "There's lots of big stuff coming up," he teased. Which is exactly what actors always say, but in this case, I actually believe him.
Apparently, John's been anticipating people would eventually get suspicious and has "a few set pieces prepared" for dealing with the fallout. Like he's some kind of soap opera chess master.
But now he's got something to lose.
The Tangled Web We Weave...
According to Farnworth, John's desperate not to lose his new life - especially Aaron (played by Danny Miller, who I once stood behind in a Costa in Manchester and can confirm is shorter in real life).
"There's going to be a few battles ahead, I think," Farnworth adds. Understatement of the year, mate.
He also tried to downplay the whole Nate murder thing by calling it "an accident" - yeah right! - before admitting John hasn't exactly handled the situation properly. Ya think?
"There will certainly be a lot of fallout from that," he says. No kidding. You can't just kill someone, hide the body, and expect everyone to carry on like normal. Even in soapland.
Emmerdale continues every weekday on ITV at 7:30pm (except tonight, obviously... thanks football).
I'll be watching tomorrow's hour-long special with a large glass of wine and my phone on silent. Some things are sacred.
