STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were already up in arms that Catherine Tyldesley was sent home over Mike Bushell last night, but now they’re claiming it’s a ‘fix’ because Mike is a BBC employee.

Many viewers believe BBC Breakfast star Mike, 53, was saved because he is a BBC face, while Coronation Street actress Catherine, 36, made her name on ITV.

Viewers felt Catherine being sent packing was an example of BBC bias
Even Mike looked shocked to be saved

And they took to twitter to voice their disapproval.

One viewer tweeted: “Typical #Strictly2019 #Strictly keep the BBC person whose awful & get rid of the ITV person whose excellent #scd bias”

A second said: “That’s ball it’s a fix all because Mike works for the BBC that’s the only reason he won.”

A third added: “Not the biggest strictly observer but to save Mike who is a full time BBC employee over a girl Catherine who made her name on itv show, did they get told who to save”

And a fourth agreed, saying: “So wrong #Strictly #Strictly2019 voting Catherine off the show Mike should have gone. @BBC bias again.”

Shirley Ballas had the casting vote as head judge

One angry viewer believes that Mike was kept on the show as part of a plan to get him to Blackpool so BBC Breakfast can have daily coverage on the dance hit.

“Strictly judging [is] bent as a halfpenny watch,” the furious observer wrote in an email to The Sun Online.

“The Beeb has to get Bushel to Blackpool otherwise they have a daily void to fill at Breakfast time. So the head judge should be hanging her head in shame today for being complicit in this Blackpool quest.”

Indeed, head judge Shirley Ballas has copped a lot of flack after she had the deciding vote in last night’s dance off.

Mike and Catherine were in the dance off against each other on Sunday night’s show

While Craig Revel Horwood – who even admitted on The Jonathan Ross Show at the weekend that he wanted to see Mike get to Blackpool – saved Mike and his partner Katya Jones, both Motsi Mabuse and Bruno Tonioli saved Catherine and her partner Johannes Radebe.

This left Shirley with the final say.

She explained: “Well, I thought both couples really step it up a notch and this is always the most difficult decision for me, but based on a good focus, difficult content, with some really beautiful footwork in there with stronger technical skills for me, cleaner and polished. Im going to save Mike and Katya.

Catherine danced as a zombie bride
Mike’s Tango had an Alice in Wonderland theme

A clearly emotional Catherine, who scored 24 points for her Cha Cha as a zombie bride, then paid tribute to her partner Johannes.

She said: “Hes like my best friend.”

“Hes just the opportunity to work with amazing people and get critiqued off amazing people. I never thought Id say this, Im going to keep it up because I fell in love with it!

“Ive loved every second, this man has changed my life!
