JAMES Bye struggled to hold back tears after performing a very emotional dance on Strictly tonight.

The actor paid homage to EastEnders as he performed the foxtrot to Julia’s Theme, the show’s alternative version of the classic theme song.

The actor struggled with his scores

Backdropped by a set of the show’s Queen Vic pub, James and his partner Amy Dowden glided gracefully to secure a score of 26.

With fellow cast members in the audience, James became emotional as he said it was a “dream” to present his show on the dancefloor.

Motsi Mabuse said the opening of his movements were “absolutely beautiful” but when he was in closed position he was “struggling”.

Shirley Ballas said she could see how hard James was working but he needed to focus on his posture.

According to the bookies, James is the favourite to get the boot this week, alongside Jayde Adams.

Speaking on Strictly It Takes Two yesterday, James’ dance partner  – Amy Dowden – revealed how their rehearsal went down with his co-stars.

She said: “We showed them a clip yesterday, they started crying. They know James is working hard at both and I know how much EastEnders means to him, so they can see he’s giving everything right now and they got really emotional.

James told Rylan: “We got Linda Henry to cry,” as Amy added: “Yeah and I mean proper crying.”
