STRICTLY Come Dancing star Maisie Smith always knew she’d be linked to pop star HRVY, but has her pick of the men as footballers slide into her DMs.
The EastEnders star, 19, knew that as soon she was in the line-up of the BBC dance show alongside HRVY, 21, that people would be keen to link them up as a romantic pair.
“He’s amazing,” she told the The Daily Star while rolling her eyes.
“But I knew this would happen.”
Maisie hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a future romance, saying they’re just friends “at the moment”.
“I was expecting these romance rumours from day one. I’m 19, he’s 21, we’re both single, so I feel like it was inevitable – but we’re just good pals at the moment,” she explained.
“When I commented on his Instagram – I literally said he looked like spaghetti – everyone went mad calling me a flirt.
“I’m enjoying getting to know him, we have a connection, but we’re just friends.”
If things don’t work out with HRVY, Maisie doesn’t need to travel far to find a beau, as she admits, “there’s been a couple of boys sliding into my DMs”.
Maisie added: “People saw me shake my hips on the samba and it tickled a couple of feathers! So I’ve had a couple of people message me.”
But the actress “couldn’t say” who was messaging her, only that a future as a WAG could be a possibility.
“I’ve had messages from a couple of footballers, but I can’t say who – it wouldn’t be fair,” Maisie teased.
“But to be honest, with Strictly and lockdown, I’m not dating.
“I love being single, I’m finding happiness within myself and it’s taken me a long time to do that. I’m trying to focus on that before I open up to someone else. “
Maisie was in the danger zone of Strictly again last week – despite coming second on the leaderboard on judges’ scores.
One viewer felt she had been harshly treated, tweeting: “The UK hates confident women confirmed.”
Maisie and Gorka were saved by judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke, and will be hoping for better fortune tonight.
Maisie has since cooled her budding romance with pop star HRVY so she can concentrate fully on the dance competition.
A show source said: “Maisie is seriously worried about getting knocked out and desperately wants to make it to the final.
“She is worried her relationship with HRVY has damaged her chances now.”
Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturdays and Sundays, 7.25pm, BBC One
