Stuart Highway’s mental health struggles take a further turn this week

In this week’s EastEnders episode Stuart Highway’s mental health struggles take a turn as he almost turns back to drugs.

The recovering addict is tempted outside an AA meeting – but is stopped when Linda Carter steps in.

Later he tries again but Jada Lennox is there to be the one reminding him that drugs won’t solve his issues.

Instead he hands them to her – and in an unfortunate series of events they end up with Amy Mitchell.

The schoolgirl wants to impress newcomer Denzel so takes one – but collapses just as her dad Jack Branning arrives.

Meanwhile with Amy fighting for her life in hospital, Stuart has spiralled once more and ended up at the doctors.

Viewers know he was diagnosed with post-natal depression after the birth of son Roland.

Furious at the diagnosis, Stuart insists the doctor made a mistake and demands to see her again.

When he’s denied, he reacts by taking the entire surgery hostage.

However, before he can do any damage, his ex Rainie Cross appears and knocks on the door – and convinces him to stand down.

He’s taken away by police, but Rainie waits.

She later begs him to accept his diagnosis and accept the help he’s been offered.

After talking with his brother Callum and Jay, Stuart realises that he needs to leave Walford for good.

And Rainie is delighted – asking him to come with her.

The former couple reunite – but not before stealing a hearse and driving out of Albert Square for good.
