Who is Katie Jarvis?

Katie Jarvis, 28, is an English actress, best known for her work in the long-running BBC soap EastEnders.

Born in Dagenham on June 22, 1991, the TV star got her breakthrough role in Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank, starring Michael Fassbender.

She got the part after being spotted by a casting agent working for director Andrea while arguing with her then-boyfriend at a train station.

The film was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and went on to win the Jury Prize.

In 2009, Katie gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Lillie Mae, on May 9 and then to her son Alfie on April 19, 2011.

Who did she play in EastEnders?

The former soap star portrayed tearaway Hayley Slater, who had an illegitimate child with cousin Kat Slater’s husband Alfie Moon.

She endeared herself to soap fans with her gritty performances.

In 2019, she filmed harrowing scenes which saw the single mother found unconscious in a bathroom.

Alfie then kicked the door in, only to see her passed out on the toilet after downing vodka, with baby Cherry left to fend for herself in the bath.

The new mum checked into a hospital before discharging herself after suffering a post-natal breakdown.

When Kat visited her in early February, Hayley told her she was doing well and hadnt even thought about drinking.

But when Kat suggested coming home because her baby needed her mum, Hayley freaked out.

In fact, she ended up discharging herself and doing a runner.

Why did Katie leave EastEnders?

Katie’s on-screen character Hayley left Albert Square in February and two months later it was revealed she would no longer be starring in the BBC show.

Although the reasons for her departure are not fully known, she has spoken about turning her back on acting to focus on her family.

Speaking to Daily Star, she said: “Ive taken a step back from acting. Ive got a job and Im looking after my kids.”

What has Katie been doing since leaving EastEnders?

The mother-of-two is currently working for a bargain store in Romford and focusing on raising her children.

Katie is a security guard at B&M and was spotted wearing an all-black uniform as she entered the shop in October 2019.

A TV insider said: A lot of people have been wondering where Hayley is after she left so suddenly but the mystery has been solved, shes in Romford working at B&M.”

The source continued to explain how her character was no longer needed once Hayley’s explosive storyline ended and Alfie left.

Can Katie be found on social media?

The actress had a Twitter account, however, her page no longer appears to be active.

Was she ‘glassed’ on a night out?

The actress said she needed hospital treatment after she was attacked on Friday, March 8, 2019, in London.

She took to Twitter to claim a man had attacked her, tweeting the Metropolitan Police to say: “Big thank you to the Met police tonight and ambulance service for looking after me after I was glassed by a drunken Irish man for f*** all”. She later deleted the tweets.

Speaking to The Sun Online Katie, 29, revealed she was OK, adding: “Life goes on.”

She later wrote on Twitter: “Ok to put people’s minds, and questions to rest. I am absolutely fine thank you so much for all your concern and checking in on me but I’m a soldier and been through a hell of a lot worse.”
