LACEY Turney made her name when she burst on to the scene as the no-nonsense Stacey Slater on EastEnders.
She has not had it easy behind the scenes however, as she went through the agony of suffering a miscarriage not once, but twice.
Who is Lacey Turner?
Lacey Turner is an actress born in Barnet on March 28, 1988.
The actress is best known for her role as Stacey Slater on the BBC soap EastEnders.
Despite being born in Barnet, Lacey was raised with her two sisters in Hertfordshire, near the BBC television studios in Elstree.
This made her want to be on the show as she commented previously: “From my bedroom window you could see part of the square [the external filming lot for EastEnders], and you could hear them all filming at night. I used to say to my mum: ‘I wanna be on that!’”
What has Lacey said about miscarriage?
The decision for Lacey to speak out about her two miscarriages came from her own reluctance to talk at the time, which left her feeling “lonely” and “broken.”
Seven weeks into her first pregnancy, Lacey began bleeding heavily and suffering stomach cramps – and it dawned on her that she was losing the baby.
“In my gut I knew it wasn’t right,” she said on the Channel 5 documentary Channel 5 documentary Miscarriage: Our Story.
“I just felt so empty. I had gone from being so excited because we’d waited so long for this baby, to feeling numb.
Lacey fell pregnant again just a few months later but, sadly, again at seven weeks, she lost the baby.
“It was worse the second time, so much more blood,” she says.
“I was stressed out because they found there was a tiny bit of the foetus, about the size of a grain of rice, stuck to the lining of the cervix, so you can’t try again.
“That was really horrible because I felt like there was still a bit of the baby stuck inside me and you just want it out.”
How long has Lacey Turner played Stacey Slater in EastEnders?
Stacey has played Stacey since November 2004.
Her first stint lasted six years and she departed Albert Square in 2010, and she didn’t return until 2014.
She left again 2019 before making her highly-anticipated return in September 2020.
Stacey has been involved in some major storylines including such as when it was revealed on Christmas Day 2007 that she had slept with Max which ended his marriage with Tanya, and when fans found out she murdered Archie Mitchell in 2010.

In 2014, Lacey starred as Molly Dawes in the first series of BBC’s Our Girl.
In the same year she guest starred as Stella Crangle in an episode of Call the Midwife.
In 2012, she starred in Bedlam as Ellie Flint and in Switch as Stella Munroe.
She has been recognised for her work on EastEnders, as she has won best actress at the British Soap Awards on multiple occasions.
