FANS were left devastated after they found out that Josephine Melville passed away aged 61.

Who was Josephine Melville?
Josephine Melvilee was an actor from Essex.
She was known for several roles she played in British TV such as in The Bill and Casualty while working in theatre too.
She also took part in EastEnders in 1986 as Tessa Parker, Kelvin Carpenter’s girlfriend.
Josephine was performing in the Nine Night at the Nottingham Playhouse when she died backstage after the show on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
She received assistance from a first-aider and a medically-trained member of the audience, however, the star passed away.
A statement was made on Twitter which said: “We are deeply saddened to announced that last night the actor Josephine Melville passed away backstage at Nottingham Playhouse following the performance of the play Nine Night, in which she was performing.
“Our thoughts and deep condolences are with her family and loved ones.”
This year, Josephine also made an appearance in Ella Henderson’s music video for her single Brave.
Josephine Melville – who was also a writer and director – was described as a “wonderful and well-loved person” and a “revered and deeply respected performer.”
Bridgerton star, Adjoa Andoh, who also made an appearance on EastEnders, paid tribute to Josephine on Twitter: “Ach … I’m so shocked. A wonderful actress. Amazing comic timing.
“Part of a community of artists who understood the power of black stories.
“All blessings & condolences to the family. Full of light, rest in your power Jo.”
Who did Josephine Melville play in EastEnders?
Josephine Melville played the role of Tessa Parker in EastEnders, a college friend of Kelvin Carpenter and Harry Reynolds.
The trio had Marxist beliefs and Kelvin and Tessa found that they have more in common than just their political opinions.
However, their romance faded when Kelvin became more interested in pop music and starts singing with a group known as Dog Market.
She wants to be part of the band, however, she has no musical talent and they don’t let her take part.
Tessa leaves Albert Square when Kelvin admits that it’s time for them to stop seeing each other.
Was Josephine Melville married and did she have any children?
Josephine Melville liked to keep her personal life behind closed doors.
