Fans are concerned Emmerdale bosses will kill off Vanessa

Is Vanessa going to die in Emmerdale?

The news that Michelle Hardwick – who plays Vanessa on the ITV soap – is having a baby has left fans fearing that show bosses will kill off her character after losing her battle with cancer.

Last week, Michelle hardly reassured viewers when she said she had always known what the ending for Vanessa’s cancer storyline would be.

She told Radio Times: “I won’t say which way it goes, but I was told straight away.

“As soon as [Emmerdale’s executive producer] Jane Hudson brought me up, she told me the storyline and the outcome.

“I didn’t even have time to think about it one way or another. As soon as I was told the story, I was told the outcome.

“It wasn’t a case of ‘here’s the story but we don’t know yet’. So I’ve always known what happens in the storyline but my lips are sealed…”

Emmerdale are yet to confirm Vanessa’s fate but that hasn’t stopped fans hoping there’ll be light at the end of the tunnel for Vanity – and preferably a wedding.

One fan tweeted: “I hope this storyline doesn’t end with Vanessa dying and you find another way to explain her absence when the time comes. #vanity deserve their happily ever after in the form of Vanessa surviving cancer and then a wedding.”

Another said: “If there isn’t going to be a vanity wedding and Vanessa dies they’ve just ruined emmerdale #vanity.”

A third fan said: “Please offer some reassurance following the news of Michelle pregnancy. Are we going loose Vanessa and she gonna die?”

Another viewer tweeted: “If Vanessa dies in Emmerdale I’ll actually ball my eyes outI can’t watch that, was bad enough watching Sinead’s story on Corrie.”

Michelle Hardwick said Vanessa would love to reconnect with her mother and get her honeymoon with Charity

What’s on Vanessa’s bucket list according to Michelle Hardwick?

Michelle Hardwick has revealed the goals she’d like her character to reach in life, including reconnecting with her estranged mother.

Michelle told Radio Times: “Firstly I’d love her to go on that family holiday that was meant to be her and Charity Dingle’s honeymoon a few months ago.”

“We don’t know much about her mum so if she had a ‘bucket list’ of sorts I think it would be nice for Vanessa to reach out and reconnect with her after going through this.

“They are in each other’s lives, she visits her sometimes, but I don’t feel like that have the best mother/daughter relationship.”

Vanessa is pushing Charity away in Emmerdale

Are Charity and Vanessa going to split?

Viewers have watched Charity and Vanessa find themselves at odds with each other as Vanessa has embarked on her treatment.

A huge bust up at the ward when Charity found Vanessa sitting with Kerry left fans fearing they’d split

Charity insisted she was only looking out for Vanessa, but Vanessa branded her behaviour selfish and ordered her to leave.

Charity departed with her tail between her legs, leaving a tearful Vanessa to finish her first chemotherapy session on her own.

Official spoilers have revealed that things are only going to get worse for the couple when Vanessa heads out in desperate search of normality and has a drink – or several – with Rhona

Charity is dismayed that Vanessa has gone off the rails and they end up arguing about the booze-fulled night out.

Speaking about the rift between them, Michelle Hardwick said: “Charity is doing her best but the bottom line is she is scared of Vanessa dying.”

She added: “Vanessa is struggling to come to terms with her own mortality which results in conflict between them. This is beyond Charity’s control, she can’t fix this and Vanessa ends up feeling quite smothered.”
