Claudia Winkleman was forced to apologise after a Strictly star ‘swore’ live on air – but fans were baffled

Tony Adams was shocked when Claudia apologised to viewers for any ‘fruity language’ from him after his good comments from the judges

One of those people was former footballer Tony Adams, who scored 26 for his American Smooth to With A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Crocker.

Tony and his partner Katya Jones included a number of tricky lifts into their routine, and the 56-year-old was thrilled when the judges gave him more positive comments about his dancing ability than they have previously.

When Craig Revel Horwood said his routine had been “better”, Tony reacted like he’d received a 10, racing around celebrating and punching the air.

Some of what he was saying was inaudible, but when he got up to the top of the stairs to speak to Claudia, she apologised if there had been any “fruity language”.

Tony put his hand to his mouth and asked if he had said something wrong, and Claudia reassured him saying “It’s ok”.

The sportsman joked he was “just excited” but looked a bit mortified to have seemingly slipped up.

However, Strictly fans watching at home were baffled as they didn’t hear him say anything out of order.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Im pretty sure Tony didn’t swear….”

Another added: “What did Tony say? Didn’t hear him swear?”

A third tweeted: “Did he swear? I never heard anything”.

Elsewhere, Jayde Adams cried after her emotional routine in tribute to her late sister, Jenna.

And fans were concerned about Will Mellor after he struggled to rehearse for his rumba this week due to having the flu.

He ended up with his lowest score and second from the bottom of the leaderboard by the end of Saturday’s show.
