STRICTLY star Will Mellor was so sick on Saturday night he “couldn’t stand” and was secretly being “held up” by his dance partner.

The 46-year-old had just four hours’ training last week after being wiped out by a virus.

Will Mellor struggled through the week

Despite this, Will battled through to perform on Saturday night – but was punished by the judges with their scores.

He was awarded just 23 out of 40 for his rumba with pro dancer Nancy Xu, 31.

Nany told spin-off show It Takes Two tonight: “It was a challenging week and Will still put himself out there to show people what he could give to the show.

“I was worried about him. He could barely stand, I was holding him. He is my winner for sure.”

Will has been left gutted by his low score, telling host Janette: “It was the best I could have done it after four hours.

“I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do a good rumba with a few hours’ training.

“The judges know what they’re talking about so I have to take it on board and try to do better next week.”

His low-score left Will fearing he’d be booted out in the results show.

He placed second to last on the leader board, just in front of Matt Goss, who was awarded 20.

“It’s terrifying every week”, he added.

“I’m loving this experience you’re desperate to keep going and keep performing.”

Will wasn’t the only one who fell ill last week.

Contestant Fleur East shared the traumatic news on the HITS radio breakfast show on Monday, as she chatted to co-host James Barr and producer Matt about last week at Strictly.

The radio host explained: “There were a few mentions on Saturday night, but it was a tough week for a lot of people in the competition.”

She continued, “Hamza [Yassin] was very, very sick, so was Will [Mellor] and so was Kym [Marsh] and we didn’t say anything on Saturday but Vito [Coppola] was really ill last week too.”

“I got one full day of rehearsal with him.”
