STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left gushing over “national treasure” Alison Hammond and called for her to have a permanent spot on the show.

This Morning anchor Alison, 47, – who herself starred in Strictly Come Dancing‘s 12th season – burst out of a sparkling door to read the phone line terms and conditions.

Alison Hammond left Strictly Come Dancing fans dazzled with her cameo on Saturday’s show

Alison sported the same purple frock she wore during her BBC show stint in 2014

She showed off her figure in a flowing purple number which she first wore when she danced in back in 2014.

Alison made her cameo alongside host Claudia Winkleman – with the pair bouncing off each other with their banter.

This led to BBC viewers calling for the I Can See Your Voice star to secure a permanent role on the sequin-studded series.

One took to Twitter to put: “Alison Hammond would make a great presenter of #Strictly and rejuvenate the show. She is naturally funny, bubbly and can ad lib.”

Another continued: “Alison Hammond and Claudia Winkleman need to present something together, they’re so joyous #nationaltreasures #strictly.”

One BBC fan then replied: “I was thinking this, she’d be so perfect! I do think we’re reaching the point where Tess & Claudia need to move on. Strictly has gone from being formal to being more fun, energised & creative & the presenting needs to fit that. Alison would capture that perfectly! #strictly.”

One then confessed: “Felt like Alison was auditioning for Tess or Claudia’s job then #Strictly,” as another wrote: “I’m still trying to recover from the excitement of seeing Alison Hammond read out the terms and conditions.”

Another then confessed: “National Treasure: Alison Hammond 👏🏼 #Strictly.”

As she made her entrance, Alison said: “Hi Claudia, darling, how are you doing? Do you like my dress? It’s vintage 2014 Strictly.”

She then gave viewers a dance as she was cheered by the Strictly stars.

“Nasty” judge Criag Revel Horwood was even impressed – giving Alison a ten for her appearance.

Alison shot to fame when she competed in the third series of then-Channel 4 reality show Big Brother in 2002, and she went on to land a job as a reporter on This Morning in 2003.

She starred on Strictly in 2014, paired with now former pro Aljaž Škorjanec.

Aljaž and Alison finished in 10th place.

They lost in the dance-off to the late Caroline Flack.

In July Alison revealed she had cut out sugar to help her shed the pounds.

She weighed 20 stone at her biggest and started to lose weight after her beloved mother sadly died in 2020.
