Weeks after their split was revealed, Richie started dating marketing exec Stephanie Thirkill, 32, the daughter of multi-millionaire Andrew Thirkill and the pair are expecting their first baby.
The Leeds Rhino rugby player, 32, has now shared that he’s making his Instagram account private and explained why in a lengthy post.
The sportsman addressed his fans and said: “I’ve decided to put my profile private from now on.
“If you are on here to share my photos or stories of me and my life maliciously to other people or waste your time sending me abusive messages please just unfollow me.”
“I’m going to start removing people from my account one by one, so if you are a genuine rugby fan and I accidentally remove you I apologise in advance and will accept you back! Thank you Richie,” the star finished off the post, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Richie has since set his social media account to private.
Helen and rugby player Richie, who tied the knot in 2012, share three kids together.
Last year the former couple were busy renovating a house in Yorkshire near their family home, and were just too busy to spend quality time together.
According to The Mirror, Helen said: “No… We’re not in the house together – we are staying out of each other’s way.
“We say this is the dream as we have breakfast, lunch and dinner together but then look after the kids in shifts.
“You appreciate the other in this situation. I don’t think he’ll ever say again, ‘What do you do with the kids all day?’ Sometimes I would get in from work and he’d be that husband that would look at the kitchen and say, ‘How is this still a mess when she’s been off all day?’
“Now he’s done it he’s like, ‘How does she stay sane?'”
Helen announced that her marriage was over on Instagram, just four months after she and the rugby player welcomed a third child.
In an emotional social media post, Helen said: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co parent our small children.”
