STRICTLY Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has revealed who she sees as her biggest competition – and it might come as a surprise.

The Countryfile star, 39, believes England football icon Tony Adams is a massive threat to her on the dance floor.

Alex Jones and Ronan Keating were not convinced on The One Show

Helen made the confession during an appearance on The One Show and it left hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating looking confused.

Tony and his partner Katya Jones scored just 15 in Week 1, landing them at the bottom of the leaderboard.

They have continued to be among the lowest scored couples, although last week they scored 26 while Helen and her partner Gorka Marquez were awarded 29 points.

Sitting alongside Gorka on The One Show, Helen immediately declared “Tony Adams” when asked by Alex who she is most in competition with.

After receiving strange looks from Alex and Ronan, she quickly said: “No! You’re saying that like it’s a bad thing!

“Tony came into this like the comedy act, but he’s so good.”

Turning to Gorka, she asked: “Isn’t he? He’s so good!”

Alex and Ronan then admitted that Tony was “very good” in last week’s Strictly, which saw him and Katya performing an American Smooth.

Viewers were also left surprised by Helen’s admission.

One tweeted: “Helen Skelton’s sudden panic that she sounded sarcastic when she said Tony Adams was her biggest competition <3.”

This weekend, Helen and Gorka are doing a Charleston to the original Blue Peter theme tune.

Helen started her TV career presenting the iconic kids’ telly show.

But while Helen was quick to share her thoughts on the competition, Gorka was not so forthcoming.

When he was asked who he saw as a threat, Gorka replied: “Do you know what, this year – it sounds like a cliché – but this year everybody’s so good.

“The level is so equal that we don’t really know what’s going to happen any week.

“Everybody needs to be ready to go because it’s a show with a very good level this year.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.40pm, BBC1, Saturday October 22.
