Jayde couldn’t contain her emotions as she spoke to Claudia Winkleman

On tonight’s Strictly show, Jayde and her partner Karen Hauer performed an emotional routine to Bette Midler’s Wind Beneath My Wings.

In a video before the routine, Jayde teared up as she told Karen how Bette was the siblings’ favourite singer.

After the routine, an emotional Shirley Ballas thanked Jayde for performing the routine in honour of anyone who had lost a loved one.

The Head Judge, whose brother passed away, said: “I’m just really emotional, it was graceful, you do it your way. your lifts were great.

“Thank you for doing that for everyone who has lost someone.”

Jayde held back tears as Shirley spoke but once she was upstairs with Claudia Winkleman it all became too much for her when the host said Jenna’s name.

As she cried and covered her face, Jayde managed to say: “She said to my mum before she died, do you think people will forget me? and you just said her name.”

Claudia reassured her that her sister will never be forgotten, and the star did her best to compose herself as she spoke about her sister and what the routine meant to her.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “I think my sister’s definitely orchestrating things for me. It all feels so serendipitous.

“It’s such an emotional thing for me.”

Jayde and Jenna took part in freestyle disco dancing from the ages of five to 17.

She recalled: “I really held Jenna back in freestyle disco-dancing. Even though I had pizzazz and something about me, back in the 90s if you were chubby you weren’t a dancer.

“My sister wasn’t like that and she was really good – but what it gave me was this real ease on stage which was really useful for stand-up.”
