STRICTLY Come Dancing star Will Mellor’s performance has been put at risk as he struggles to walk alone after falling ill.

The Coronation Street actor confirmed he and his pro dance partner Nancy Xu have their preparations on hold while he recovers.

He was held up while walking by his friend

Will, 46, appeared on It Takes Two on Thursday with a croaky throat and nasty cough as he revealed he’d been bed-bound all week.

The soap actor explained he had contracted a virus which left him unable to walk on his own, with dancing taking a back seat.

After discussing the illness on TV, he was seen at a hotel with a pal, where he was seen being aided with his walking.

Looking casual in a white top and black trousers, Will was photographed blowing his nose before being held up by his friend.

Another snap saw Will put on a jumper to keep warm, and massage his throat as he appeared to be in pain.

Updating his fans from his hotel room, Will posted to his Instagram stories that he had been “unwell” this week.

“Hello, are you alright?” the actor told his fans. “I just want to apologise for the way I sound, I’ve not been well at all this week.

“I went into training on Monday and I just had to go home because I’ve been feeling poorly, and I’ve been laid off ever since.

“I’ve got a virus or whatever you want to call it, and I was aching all over and it was really horrible.

“If you’ve got it out there, I feel your pain because a lot of it is going round this time of year with these flu variants.”

“I probably sound worse than I am because I’ve coughed my throat out,” he went on.

“I just wanted to do a couple of hours of training today because I’ve got to learn the steps and perform on Saturday night, live. We will just have to see what I can do.”

It comes after Will suffered a knee injury – just days before the first live Strictly show – amid fears it would ruin his routine.

The 46-year-old shared a clip of himself icing his knees during rehearsals for the BBC dance show, admitting he was in “shock.”

He joked: “In rehearsal for Strictly. Will’s knees sponsored by peas.”

Will has previously expressed concern about his knees, after previously revealing he has struggled with them for over 10 years.

He told Digital Spy:  “I don’t want to get injured. I’ve got bad knees and football injuries, operations and stuff. I’m having to ice them every night.

“If they pop out in the middle of a dance routine live on telly, there’s not much I can do because I will just hit the floor, and they do.

“They’ve popped out while I’ve been walking down the stairs before now. I can pop it back in, but at that moment, I have no strength in the leg.”
