A NEW trailer for the sequel to Breath of the Wild was shown during September’s Nintendo Direct, including an official name and release date.

We now know the official name of the upcoming sequel will be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

We finally have a title for the long awaited sequel.

The trailer showed Link in a city in the sky, much like Skyward Sword’s Skyloft.

He then jumps from the edge — much like he does in the Wii game — but he doesn’t land on a Loftwing.

Instead, he lands on a stone-like bird — more like the Sand Bird from Mario Sunshine.

You might think it would be a hard landing, but he appears to be safe, and sails off.

The trailer wasn’t very long for a fanbase that has been patiently waiting for news on a sequel to Breath of the Wild.

However, while gameplay and cinematics were short, so is the time before Tears of the Kingdom is finally released.

Nintendo revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release on May 12, 2023.

This means there is only seven more months to wait until the game’s release.

Breath of the Wild is the best selling Zelda game of all time, selling three times as many copies as the next most popular, Twilight Princess.

It is also one of the most highly decorated games of all time, receiving a massive 97/100 on game review aggregate site metacritic.

It also won Game of the Year at the 2017 Game Awards, gaming’s equivalent of the Oscars.

Zelda players were hoping to hear news and more remakes for Nintendo Switch.

Most notably fans were asking for WiiU era games, Twilight Princess or Wind Waker.

Nothing else was announced from the series, but there is a new Kirby remake called Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe.
