CALL of Duty 2020 is expected to see the return of the Blackout mode – which could replace Warzone.
It’s the popular battle royale mode that shipped with 2018’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

However, the mode proved far less popular than Warzone, which is part of the newer Modern Warfare game.
Importantly, Warzone is free to play even without Modern Warfare – and is expected to live on beyond the main game.
The jury is still out on what will happen to Warzone once the new Call of Duty 2020 game launches.
However, one insider claims that Blackout is making a comeback for Call of Duty 2020 – throwing Warzone’s future into doubt.

“Blackout is going to return in some form with Black Ops this year,” said Jeff Grubb, a journalist at Venture Beat, in a tweet.
Part of the problem in having two different Call of Duty battle Royale games is that the audience is divided.
However, it’s possible that Blackout could return as part of Warzone, but with a different map.
Earlier this year, developers hinted at such a possibility.
“We’re in kind of uncharted territories here,” said Infinity Ward’s Taylor Kurosaki, speaking to GamerGen.
“Call of Duty has been on a very regular cadence for many, many years.
“And Warzone has made us rethink exactly how best to release new content and how to integrate it.
“Call of Duty is a genre in itself: there are different branches in the Call of Duty tree, but they’re all connected in some ways.
“Warzone will be the through line that connects all of the different various sub-franchises of Call of Duty.
“It’s going to be really cool to see how the different sub-franchises sort of come in and out of focus, but Warzone will be the one constant.”
In other news, Call of Duty Warzone is getting a graphics update for the next-gen consoles.
Call of Duty recently banned 50,000 Warzone players for cheating.
