THE Call of Duty Next showcase revealed a lot of new information about the upcoming titles, including the release date and new map for the Warzone sequel.

Now officially called Call of Duty Warzone 2.0, the next iteration of Call of Duty’s free-to-play standalone title is right around the corner.

The next Warzone game will take place in a new region.

As previously shown in leaks, Warzone 2.0 releases on November 16, 2022, and will remain free to play.

However, contrary to previous rumours, the new game will also be released on the last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.

These two releases will work alongside the current-gen releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The new game will also receive a fresh setting, a fictional region of Western Asia called Al Mazrah.

The new mode, DMZ, has been confirmed, and it will be coming to the game day one.

This is a new sandbox experience, apparently from the ‘extraction shooter’ genre, which houses games such as Hunt: Showdown and Escape from Tarkov.

Warzone 2.0 also features a new AI-controlled faction, with higher stakes and more realistic combat scenarios.

Circles will also appear more often, with several showing up at the same time to shake up end-game play.

The all new Gulag 2.0 will see you fight in 2v2 duels, loot weapons, and face a fearsome boss called ‘The Jailer’.

These missions will unlock extra surprises when completed.

Warzone 2.0 also hopes to be a more social experience than the previous entry.

Activision intends to release a mobile version of Warzone that will launch in 2023.

When this version arrives, you’ll be able to unlock stuff across both games thanks to shared progression.

More information about the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was also revealed at the showcase.
