HORIZON Zero Dawn will reportedly be remastered by Sony, and there’s also a new online multiplayer game coming for PS5.

Originally released in 2017, a remaster is rumoured to be in the works to bring the graphics up to date with the PS5 hardware.

Multiplayer will see many players take on large mechanical beasts.

This would bring new visual upgrades such as new character models, lighting and animations, to bring the game up to the standard of the sequel.

Horizon Forbidden West released this year and was highly praised for its graphics.

According to VGC, the remaster will also include accessibility features, graphics modes and quality of life improvements for players.

A second version of Horizon Zero Dawn was already launched for PC in 2020.

This version has features like improved frame rate, but does not feature any gameplay improvements like those rumoured for the remaster.

Alongside the remaster and Horizon Call of the Mountain in development for PSVR 2, there is reportedly another Horizon game in the works.

Not much is known about this new game, but it is rumoured to be an online multiplayer spin-off created for PS5 and PC.

This aligns with Sony’s previous statement that alongside its popular single-player titles, it will begin to focus on live service games.

In May, it reported that there were 12 live service games currently in development for PS5.

Co-op gameplay was apparently planned for the original release of Horizon Zero Dawn, but was reportedly scrapped to focus on the main single-player mode.

Original concept art for the game showed multiplayer battles against Horizon’s large mechanical monsters.

This is similar gameplay to other famous PlayStation series such as Monster Hunter, God Eater or Soul Sacrifice.

The idea of multiplayer was then rumoured to have been brought up again for the sequel Horizon Forbidden West.

However, developer Guerilla Games reportedly wanted to save this idea for a future project, which could be this rumoured multiplayer spinoff.
