THERE are a number of different research requests in Pokémon Go, and a popular one is to catch a Ditto.
It’s one of the harder Pokémon to catch, as you don’t see them out in the wild.

Ditto’s special ability is to mimic the look of other Pokémon, making it hard to spot.

Just like in the mainline games, Ditto can disguise itself as other Pokémon.
However, unlike the anime, they don’t have those signature small eyes that help tell them apart.
The only way to know if a Pokémon is a Ditto is to encounter it.
Once you have done so, it will transform back into its normal form.
Ditto can only transform into a few different Pokémon, but the roster of which Pokémon Ditto can transform into changes.
If you know which Pokémon it can transform into, you can narrow down your search.

If you want to find a Ditto, these are the Pokémon you should be focused on.
However, if you just need to add one to your Pokédex, you can continue playing as normal, and you’ll encounter one eventually.
