Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can receive a free powerful Pokémon.

Gavin Michaels won the Oceania International Championships this February in Melbourne, beating out almost 300 other players.

Now one of his Pokémon from his Championship winning team will be available to download for all players.

The team consisted of Iron Hands, Pelipper, Baxcalibur, Amoonguss, Palafin, and Dragonite.

This is what is frequently known as a Rain Team, with Pelipper coming in to set up the Rain to boost Water-type attacks.

Rain also helps neutralise Fire-type attacks which are common with strong Pokémon like Volcarona, Torkoal, Arcanine and Talonflame.

Palafin is at the core of this team as it is the most powerful Water-type attacker currently in the format.

Michaels’ Palafin is an all out attacker, with Mystic Water and Water Tera-type further working to boost its Water-type Jet Punches and Wave Crashes.

The Palafin you receive via Mystery Gift is almost exactly the same as the one Michaels’ used in his Championship win.

The gender, Tera-type, nature and move set all match what Michaels’ owns.

Gavin is also listed as the original trainer, it is holding the item Mystic Water, and it comes in a Cherish Ball.

The only difference is that the gift Palafin does not come with the same nickname that Michaels has.

He named it Torqoise, like a mixture of ‘porpoise’ and ‘turquoise’.

Here’s the full champion winning set:

Palafin – Level 50

  • Nature – Adamant
  • EVs – 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
  • Ability – Zero to Hero
  • Tera Type – Water
  • Item – Mystic Water
  • Moveset –  Jet Punch, Wave Crash, Haze, Protect

You can claim Palafin as a Mystery Gift by entering the code 0C1CV1CT0RGAV1N.

Trainers only have until Monday, April 17, 2023, in order to claim their free Pokémon.

Players can also rent Michaels’ whole championship winning team for competitive play with the code MNJGD5.
