PLAYSTATION 4 owners could start playing the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this weekend.

Yesterday’s PlayStation 5 event revealed that the multiplayer alpha version of the game will be avaliable to PS4 gamers on Friday 18 and throughout the weekend.

Other console owners will have to wait a bit longer to try the game

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is expected to be avaliable to everyone else later this year.

Probably when the PlayStation 5 is released in November.

PS4 owners in the UK will be able to start playing from 6pm.

In the US you can start from 1pm ET and 10am PT.

Black Ops: Cold War is the official title for the next Call of Duty game

There’s also an option to preload the game before the start time so you can start playing straight away.

The download is 25GB.

Black Ops Cold War alpha will be available through Modern Warfare or Warzone’s menus.

Once the weekend is over, there should be a chance to play Black Ops Cold War beta in October.

Players this weekend will be rewarded with a Calling Card that you can access via Modern Warfare, Warzone and Black Ops Cold War – when it’s finally released.

In other news, Sony revealed the price and release date of the PlayStation 5.

PS5 listings have already begun to pop up on sites like eBay for as much as £250 above the asking price.

And, Call of Duty’s smash hit spin-off game Warzone may soon be coming to mobile.
