AFTER purchasing a PlayStation 5 bundle from the Sony online store, one player was shocked to find she had received a copy of God of War Ragnarök before release.
Rasheeda Smith from the US state of Virginia, purchased a PlayStation 5 bundle with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from the Sony online store.
The PS5 bundle Smith received.
PlayStation has released a number of console bundles that include some of their most popular games such as Call of Duty, Horizon Forbidden West, and FIFA 23.
The bundles include a PS5 console and the game as a digital download.
God of War Ragnarök is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, with early previews being exceptionally positive.
However, there is still a little bit for fans to wait until launch, as God of War Ragnarök does not release until November 9.
Sony previously announced that it would be releasing a God of War PS5 bundle on the same day as the game’s launch.
Pre-orders are already live, but those who purchase the bundle will not receive their console until the game’s release.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released last week on October 28, so this was around the date that Smith was expecting to receive her bundle.
There was an error made on Sony’s online store, that meant that Smith received the God of War bundle rather than Call of Duty.
Speculation arose as to whether she could even play the game early as a digital download; however, as the game is already with the press, it is likely she can redeem it.
Smith is an avid PlayStation fan and already had one of God of War Ragnarök’s collector’s editions pre-ordered.
She has tweeted that she will wait for this copy to come before she dives into the game.
The bundle was purchased for a friend, who was looking forward to playing the latest Call of Duty.
She claims to have already given the bundle over to them, where they can decide whether to play or not.
Sony has not commented on the error, and at the time of writing no one else has reported receiving the God of War bundle early.
