MASKED Singer star Denise Van Outen has shared her daughter’s stunned reaction as she was revealed as Fox.
The 45-year-old was unmasked during last night’s semi-final, and Denise watched her final episode from home with her daughter Betsy and one of her friends.
As the trio sat cuddled up on the sofa in their PJs, they chanted ‘take if off’ along with the studio audience, Denise keeping a perfect poker face as Betsy watched from between her fingers.
After she removed her mask on the show, Betsy, nine, immediately turned to her mum and pointed, crying: “You!”
Denise laughed as the two girls screamed and pointed at her, with Betsy shouting: “It was you the whole time!”
They then cried: “We knew it!”
The actress and television presenter was the first of two singers unveiled last night on the surprise ITV hit – and judge Davina McCall guessed her identity correctly.
Cee Lo Green was revealed as Monster in the second half of the show’s double elimination and viewers were shocked at themselves finally guessing correctly with one writing: “FINALLY! I got two! #maskedsingeruk”.
Another added: “F***ing finally, i knew it from day one that it was ceelo green #maskedsingeruk”.
Being on the show has given Denise – who has starred on the stage in the West End and on Broadway – to record an album.
She revealed the news on social media, writing: “Now I’ve been unmasked I can finally talk about what I’ve been up to the past few weeks.
“I’ve been tucked away in a studio recording an album with the fabulous @mrstevenanderson.
“I know I always appear super confident (another mask) I actually lost confidence in myself when it came to singing.
“As a mummy I stepped back with my singing and stage career to make sure I never missed precious moments with my daughter.
“It was a moment last summer when I was singing in the shower when Betsy my 9 year old daughter said to me ‘mummy, why have I never heard or seen you sing on stage?’
“That made me realise I had to get back to what I’ve always loved doing. @themaskedsinger gave me the chance to get my confidence back. Thank you all for your lovely comments week after week.
“This cheeky little fox is a happy little fox.”
