Other celebs taking precautions against the Covid-19 virus have been Kourtney Kardashian, Kerry Katona and Jeremy Vine have been  themselves contracting the coronavirus.

Many people have taken to wearing face masks in the hope that it might stop it spreading as officials warned a major outbreak could infect 70 per cent of Brits – around 47million – and put 10million in hospital,  overwhelming the National Health Service.

Speaking to The Sun Online at The Audio & Radio Industry Awards in London on Wednesday, radio and TV presenter Jeremy said: “I’ve stopped hand shaking. Someone came up to me earlier and tried to shake my hand. I said ‘it’s lovely to see you’ but I lean back, I’ve got a tactic.

“I’m not worried especially for myself, because if you look at the profile for people who are dying it’s mainly older. “I worry for them and I worry for my mum. If you’re over 80 it is tricky.”

Radio and TV presenter Jeremy Vine said he has ‘stopped shaking hands’ with fans over coronavirus fears

The broadcaster admitted he had been moved to tears hearing from listeners on his BBC Radio 2 afternoon show, who have already self-isolated.

He added: “The last thing that made me cry was, some of our older listeners with Coronavirus, they are actually already in isolation because they are so worried. And we’re the only voices they hear in the day. And that is really sad to me.”

His comments come after Peter Andre fans were ordered not to have physical contact or selfies with him at a question and answer session because of the coronavirus.

Stunned supporters of the Mysterious Girl singer were shocked to see signs up warning them at the event called An Evening with Peter Andre on Saturday night.

They read: “Due to the recent cases of the coronavirus please DO NOT have any physical contact with Peter Andre. Please DO NOT take any selfies with Peter Andrew. Apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you.”

The Department of Health confirmed more than 16,500 people have so far been tested for the virus.

Cases in Britain have seen their biggest 24-hour spike to date with the number of confirmed infections now at 89.
