TV presenter Stephen Mulhern was left open-mouthed when he heard Knitting perform and was left convinced she was his pal Claire Richards.
The star, 45, who made his cameo on The Masked Singer tonight, claimed that Knitting’s voice sounded incredibly familiar to the former Steps singer.
And fans were quick to jump on board with his theory. Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Knitting’s best performance yet! @ThisisDavina & @StephenMulhern have got it – you can’t mistake the voice of Claire Richards from Steps! She mastered opera on Popstar To Operastar too.”
And another fan responded to Stephen’s judgement, saying: “Knitting is so obviously Claire Richards from Steps. Guessed her last week. Also Chains = Chain Reaction. The way she hits them high notes as well does it for me. She is crazy good and deserves more recognition for her talent!”
A third added: “Now I know that #knitting is 100% Claire Richards from Steps.”
Claire Richards, 45, shot to fame in 1997 when she joined Steps.
She was later revealed to be the star behind the mask and Stephen was proved right.
The pop star performed Left Outside Alone by Anastacia, and guest panelist Stephen Mulhern correctly guessed her from the operative vocals.
She told the show after her big reveal: “I thought you were going to get me from day one! So when you didn’t have a clue I was chuffed.”
On her performances, she added “I put a lot of thought into it, because I am a massiven fan of this show. It’s just been amazing, I loved it!”
Otter was then unmasked after singing Cheerleader by Omi in an American accent.
But she was revealed as actress Daisy May Cooper.
She said: “I’ve loved it I’m exhausted and absolutely revealed but I’ve loved every single second of it.
“I did it for my daughter Pip, and because I needed the cash!”
Elsewhere, Jacket Potato performed to Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac, Rhino rocked out to Into You by Ariana Grande, Fawn crooned Changing by Sigma, and Phoenix belted out It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones.
Jellyfish, Rhino, Jacket Potato and Phoenix were saved by the studio audience and automatically made it through to the semi final next week.
Last week Pigeon was revealed as Katherine Ryan – who was pregnant when she filmed the series – and the reveal left everyone at home stunned.
They took to Twitter and one person wrote: “Katherine Ryan!! No way 
ok I didn’t hear that one at all.”
A second said: “I would never have got Katherine Ryan as the Pidgeon I never even knew she was pregnant when this was filmed but to piull off a full dance top marks!”
Despite being from Canada, Katherine had performed a convincing Essex accent in a bid to fool the panel.
Those now remaining in the competition are Fawn, Knitting, Otter, Rhino, Jacket Potato, Jellyfish and Phoenix.
