The judges were stunned by the famous faces behind the mask

The final saw the three masked celebrities remaining, Scissors, Onomatopoeia and Pearly King, dance to be crowned the winner.

After each of them performed for the judging panel, the vote offs began with Pearly King going first, who was revealed as Strictly legend Bruno Tonioli.

It was down to Onomatopoeia and Scissors as they battled it out.

After a showstopping dance off, Joel Dommett announced that Scissors had won, as she unmasked herself as Glee star Heather Morris.

She unveiled herself at the end of the show, leaving guest judge Dawn French stunned, while panellist Davina McCall, Peter Crouch, Oti Mabuse, French Dawn and John Bishop were also shocked.

The actress said: “I was a dancer for Beyonce, I did the Single Ladies tour, I was one of two back up dancers.

“I thought the Glee dance, that’s how I got the job.

“I have had the best time; this has made my heart so full.

“I have two boys, eight and six and we are huge Masked Dancer fans and he made a hippo mask during the pandemic.

“When I got the call, I had to do it.”

Fans were thrilled to see the Hollywood star Heather on the ITV show.

One wrote: “Congratulations Heather Morris on winning #MaskedDancer. Loved seeing you dance.”

Another posted: “Brilliant final, two great dancers. #MaskedDancer”

A third added: “Yay glad Scissors won! Well-deserved Heather. #MaskedDancer”

Earlier in the evening Pearly King was the first to be unmasked and turned out to be pro ballroom dancer Bruno.

Scissors kicked things off with lots of references to cheerleaders as they performed an upbeat routine to Aretha Franklin’s Respect.

There was another musical clue after Coronation Street stars Daniel Brocklebank and Harriet Bibby filmed a short segment, hinting that the famous person has appeared in musicals.

This was followed up by Onomatopoeia, who revealed they were previously in the charts.

They pulled out all the stops with a fast-paced number to Came Here For Love by Ella Eyre.

The judges were quick to guess Coyote Ugly star Adam Garcia, while Dawn guessed Jason Donovan.

But a clear reference to LeAnne Rimes hit track Can’t Fight The Moonlight cemented their original guess that it was Hollywood star Adam hiding behind the mask.

Third up was Pearly King, who dropped hints about paso doble dancing and Italian olives.

They blew the audience away with their powerful performance to ABC by Gayle.

The judging panel immediately guessed Strictly star Bruno Tonioli, with more references to ballroom and dancing.

The characters then performed for a second time, with Scissors with an energetic routine to Spice Girls, Onomatopoeia returned with a smooth performance to BTS track Butter and Pearly King pushed the boat out with their moves to Hard to Handle by The Black Crowes.

Last weekend saw Girls Aloud star Kimberely Walsh unmasked as Odd Socks and Olympic star Denise Lewis unveiled as Sea Slug.

The other celebrities to reveal their identities leading up to tonight were Hollywood actor Jesse Metcalfe, GBBO star Liam Charles, Channel 4 host Steph McGovern, David and Frankie Seaman, singer Gareth Malone, presenter Stacey Dooley and actress Joanna Page.

The judging panel this series has consisted of Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch filing in for Mo Gilligan.
