What is the UK weather forecast for the August bank holiday?

Temperatures are expected to soar once again over the coming days – with highs of up to 30C degrees.

According to British Weather Services senior meteorologist Jim Dale, the UK could expect a bank holiday full of sunshine.

He said: ”As it looks from the models now, around the bank holiday temperatures could be in the high 20s and the extreme would be 30C degrees.

“The southern areas might see 25C, 26C, 27C degrees and the odd 28C 29C, with the extreme getting to 30C degrees.”

Temperatures are set to soar once again over the August bank holiday

The Met Office long range weather forecast for near the bank holiday reads: “Fine and dry conditions prevail for many areas.

“With winds light and plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures can be expected for this period, generally rising, feeling humid at times.”

According to the meteorologist, temperatures could rise even further in the first weeks of September, after the August bank holiday – potentially reaching a scorching 35C degrees.

However, Mr Dale stressed that prediction models can’t provide an accurate picture just yet – as it is too early for a forecast that far away.

The hopeful heatwave will come after cooler weather predicted from Tuesday, August 23, 2002.

According to The Met Office, the week leading up to the bank holiday weekend ”will see most areas experiencing rather cloudy conditions and perhaps some rain or drizzle spreading from the southwest.

”The east and southwest are more likely to be drier on Tuesday, with stronger winds and showers in the north and northwest.”
