Love Island’s Wes Nelson wows at the X Factor: Celebrity audition with his co-stars – but the group admit they’ll split if only one goes through

LOVE Island’s Wes Nelson wows at the X Factor: Celebrity audition with his co-stars – but the group admit they’ll split if only one goes through.

The ITV singing competition returns on Saturday for a celebrity edition, and Wes has teamed up with his fellow Islanders Eyal Booker, Samira Mighty and Zara McDermott to form a band.

The 21-year-old shows off some impressive vocals during the first show, but the four-piece admit they would split if the judges only selected certain members to progress to the next round.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Wes said the thought of it scared him, revealing: “It’s crazy to think I don’t even want to think about that negatively as negative thoughts manifest.

“We don’t even want to to think about that right now. However, we’ll cross that bridge if it did come.”

Eyal, 24, who appeared on last year’s series alongside Wes and the girls, added: “I think..whoever that one was that he said, would go.”

The Islanders hope the judges don’t try and split them up but would agree to it if they had to

Samira, who had appeared on the West End stage in Dreamgirls before entering the Love Island villa last year, agreed, saying: “We’d have to understand that.”

While the group are hopeful they will remain as a four-piece throughout the competition, they admit a decision hasn’t been made about their name going forward.

For now, they’re called Love Islanders, and Wes revealed: “For us, the main focus for us isn’t on the name right now.

“Its something that identifies us and its quite good to be identified as that, as people are going to watch the show who haven’t watched Love Island, and wont know who we are that just introduces and translates where we’ve come from.

The four-piece aren’t concerning themselves with a new name yet

“So its not our main focus now, were focusing on a camaraderie and coming together and sounding good.

“Whether that name changes in the future, we don’t know. We’ve been brainstorming and we have thought about it but its not where all our energy is going at the moment.”

Zara, 23, added: “As you grow and develop as a group, our dynamic will change.

“The name could potentially change and were open to that, but right now, our focus is on being the best.”

The X Factor: Celebrity begins Saturday, October 12 at 8.35pm on ITV.
