BRITS have been issued a travel warning after the Met Office released an urgent alert over flooding as torrential rain batters the country.
Commuters endured severe disruption yesterday after a strike by London Underground workers shut most tube lines with travel still affected this morning.

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for parts of the country
Commuters are facing warning of floods in some areas after flooding last week
And there is more rain ahead with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning that will run until 3pm today.
“Persistent and at times heavy rain may cause some disruption and flooding in places,” stated the Met Office.
The weather agency have said that wet conditions will affect journey times and even warned of potential flooding in some areas.
It added: “Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
“Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer. Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.”
Elsewhere, Brits should expect a patchy drizzle, but temperatures will be mild.
Tonight, cloud and outbreaks of mainly light rain persisting across some central areas.
There is also a yellow warning for wind in northeast England and parts of Scotland that runs until 11am today.
The Met Office states: “Very strong and gusty winds may lead to some travel disruption during Friday morning.”
The weather agency added: “Gusts of 60-65mph will lead difficult driving conditions particularly across parts of southern Scotland and northeast England during this morning’s rush hour.”
At the same time a high pressure system is bringing unseasonably warm temperatures up from the Azores
However, some places will enjoy some hot weather today with Aberdeen reaching highs of up to 19C.
Despite the rain, it is exceptionally mild for this time of the year with the Met Office saying it could be the UK’s warmest Armistice Day on record.
Across the rest of the country, the temperature will be in the mid-to-high teens despite the rainfall.
However, after this weekend temperatures are expected to dip with wintry weather possibly on the way.
It comes after reports that snow is set to hit the UK in barely a week as a jet stream sends temperatures plummeting.
A wxcharts forecast map shows wintery spells throughout the coming week, including snow in Scotland and the North West on November 18 and 19.
According to the chart, parts of the country could see up to 2cm of snow per hour on Saturday November 19.
At the same time, much of the rest of the UK is braced for heavy rain sweeping across from the West.
