CORONATION Street fans are all demanding one iconic character is given a huge new storyline.

Mechanic Kevin Webster’s sister Debbie has become a regular again on the cobbles, having arrived in 2019.

Fans are demanding that the character, played by Sue Devaney, is given a new storyline

The character, played by Sue Devaney, returned after a lengthy break away with a plan to redevelop the street.

She had been scheming with her ex-partner Ray Crosby as the pair tried buy up the houses and businesses.

However Debbie turned against Ray when his sexual assault of Faye Windass was revealed, and made him sign over his business empire, including the Viaduct Bistro, before betraying him to the police.

Fans recently saw the businesswoman run into financial trouble and she sold the Bistro back to Leanne and Nick.

Since then she hasn’t appeared much on screens and fans want her to have a new storyline.

They’ve also been speculating as to why she’s been missing, with some suggesting she has taken annual leave.

“I do miss her great one line put downs and her fabulous quirky fashion sense,” said one fan.

Another posted: “Corrie have seriously dropped the ball if they don’t see the potential in a character like Debbie. She embodies so much of what Corrie actually is.”

“Sue Devaney is an asset to the cast. They bring in characters like Glenda who they “think” are old school female corrie characters – whilst they have Debbie who lands everything line she is given, and neglect her,” said a third fan.

While a fourth posted: “I really hope Sue Devaney hasn’t left – she is one of the best things in it.”

Meanwhile, in other storyline news, Stephen Reid has been getting closer to Elaine Metcalfe (played by Paula Wilcox) but her son Tim (Joe Duttine) begins to sense that her feelings are not reciprocated.

The failing businessman portrayed by Todd Boyce is trying his best to keep his financial worries and villainous behaviour under wraps.

But he may be forced to kill again and, this time, somebody very close to home could become a target.

Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
