JONATHAN Ross is adding a £16,000 greenhouse to his London mansion to grow more fruit and veg.

The star, who turns 60 later this year, is said to want to become “more self-sustaining” with the lavish purchase.

The Victorian-style building will be added to the huge gardens of his and wife Jane’s North London mansion.

According to MailOnline, the pair have chosen a “Mottisfont design” from the National Trust collection – a look inspired by Mottisfont Abbey, in Hampshire.

The publication report that it is part of Jonathan’s bid “to become more self-sustaining through the growing of fruit and vegetables”.

His planning application for the greenhouse is said to hint at extravagant plans for his garden, reading: “The owners of the property have deliberately chosen a high-quality structure which has been designed to the highest standards to be in keeping with the appearance of the earliest domestic greenhouse.”

The greenhouse will include a water reservoir, lighting, raised planters, and strengthened glass – which will set him back over £15k.

Jonathan and screenwriter Jane reside in Hampstead, with their home host to the couple’s annual star-studded Halloween bash.

It is also crammed with comic books, a games room – and a plush retro home office that’s full of memorabilia.
