DANCING on Ice has been slammed for “putting Mollie Gallagher’s life at risk” with dangerous headbanger move.

The ITV skating competition asked the Coronation Street star to take on the controversial move for tonight’s live show.

Mollie survived the headbanger on tonight’s Dancing on Ice

The death-defying headbanger – or bounce spin – ice dancing lift involves a skater being picked up by the ankle and spun around by their partner.

During the risky move, the skater being swung is raised and lowered with their head often coming perilously close to the ice.

Due to the danger involved with the routine, it is actually banned by the International Skating Union (ISU), which governs competitive skating disciplines.

In tonight’s episode Mollie was seen undertaking the move and viewers are disgusted.

One fumed: “#DancingOnIce why are contestants being asked to do the headbanger when it is banned in professional ice skating competitions for being too dangerous?

“If professionals aren’t allowed, then amateurs definitely shouldn’t be. Entertainment before safety. Absolute joke.”

A second said: “I can’t watch the ‘headbanger’, it’s horrific, stop it. Women shouldn’t have to risk brain damage/death for entertainment #dancingonice”

Another added: “#DancingOnIce I absolutely hate the headbanger. It should be banned. Just too dangerous and not necessary.”

A fourth raged: “@dancingonice I am shocked the headbanger hasn’t been banned yet.

“I absolutely hate it. It’s an ugly & dangerous move.

“In these days of violence against women/girls, it’s acceptable for a man to risk bashing a woman’s head in? on ice
