I’M A Celebrity soap fans were in heaven tonight when ‘Alfie Moon’ and ‘Liz McDonald’ teamed up behind the bar.

It all happened when EastEnders star Shane Richie and Corrie legend Beverley Callard took part in show’s pub challenge.

‘Alfie Moon’ and ‘Liz McDonald’ were behind the bar together tonight on I’m A Celebrity

Their characters famously both played a landlord and landlady in their soaps – with Alfie in charge of the Queen Vic, and Liz behind the bar at the Rovers Return.

The challenge saw them having to put the 10 most common pub names in order in a bid to win the chance for the camp to go to The Castle Inn.

When they thought they had it in the right order, they had to pull a beer pump, which caused stale lager to be splashed at them if they got the answer wrong.

But fans were more interested in the fact they were seeing Alfie Moon and Liz McDonald behind the bar together – a soap crossover, which only fans could dream of.

Shane added to their delight when he joked: “Are you ready to pull a pint, Miss McDonald”.

To which Bev replied, “I believe I am Mr. Moon.”

Pretending to be in the Queen Vic, Shane joked: “Kat, get out love, I’m serving Liz.”

Fans went nuts at this soapy dream and took to Twitter to share their joy.

One tweeted: “This is too good! Alfie and Liz behind the bar together!”

Another said: “Could only have Alfie and Liz doing the pub challenge really.

While this one was loving the crossover: “Bev and Shane aka Liz and Alfie doing a castle coin challenge about pubs is pretty much perfect isn’t it?”

After they completed the task, Beverley said: “They are going to go mad when we tell them what we’ve won.”

Returning to camp, where AJ was teaching Vernon, Jordan and Giovanna to dance, Shane noted to the campmates that they hadn’t received a call from Kiosk Cledwyn and faked they had failed the challenge.

Eventually he and Beverley revealed they had won and that they were going to the pub.

Jordan said: “They had us hook, line and sinker. Look at me, I’m grinning like a Cheshire cat.”

Beverley revealed: “We’ve got drinks – and snacks!”

The camp of course screamed and celebrated the factr they would be going to the pub

Meanwhile, tonight’s task was filmed yesterday as last night Beverley and Victoria Derbyshire became the latest celebs to be voted off the show in a shock double eviction.

This morning, during a chat with ITV’s Lorraine, Bev admitted that she “wanted to die” when she realised the show had aired her crude nickname for her husband.

The 63-year-old star looked mortified when the comment aired during her Castle Highlights after she was voted off the show.

During her time in I’m A Celeb, Beverley raised eyebrows when she told her campmates that she calls her partner Jon McEwan “mega shag”, with tickled hosts Ant and Dec repeatedly mentioning it on air ever since.

But Beverley now insists that she didn’t think viewers would have seen the clip.

She looked sheepish as the presenter said: “We talked to your lovely husband yesterday and I think he’s quietly very happy of his nickname, he’s quite enjoying the attention.”

Beverley replied: “I can’t believe they aired that.

“I just thought they were quite bad words so they’ll edit that, when Ant and Dec played the clip for me last night I wanted to die.”

She repeated: “I wanted to die.”

Lorraine giggled as she brushed off Beverley’s embarrassment, insisting: “It was funny, it was a laugh – as he said himself, it could have been a lot worse.”

Beverley made the shocking revelation in camp last week, telling her fellow contestants: “Jon’s very handsome, he’s a mega shag.

“He is a mega shag and he dances for me in the kitchen every morning and makes me laugh my socks off.”

She added: “He’s gorgeous!”

Bev and Victoria Derbyshire were eliminated from I’m A Celeb last night

The actress has been happily married to recording studio owner Jon for the last ten years.

He is the star’s fourth husband, with Bev married to Paul Atkinson between 1974 and 1977, David Sowden between 1980 and 1988, and Steve Callard from 1989 until 2001.

Beverley has two children, 45-year-old Rebecca and 31-year-old Joshua.
