Nigel Farage, the former UKIP politician and current contestant on I’m A Celebrity, recently shared the details of a near-death experience he had 13 years ago when he was involved in a plane crash. Farage, 59, opened up about the incident during a conversation with This Morning host Josie Gibson.

A Plane Crash Gone Wrong

In 2010, Farage was participating in an election stunt while running for Buckingham in the General Election. The stunt took a disastrous turn, resulting in a plane crash that left Farage with severe injuries.

Recalling the Impact

During his conversation with Gibson, Farage described the aftermath of the crash. He mentioned the explosion, the plane flipping over, and being trapped with multiple broken bones, including every rib, a split sternum, and a punctured lung. The injuries were extensive and left Farage in a critical condition.

Choosing to Leave the Hospital

In hindsight, Farage admitted that he should have stayed in the hospital longer, but he made the decision to discharge himself because he was bored. This decision may have had long-term consequences on his recovery.

Previous Accidents

This isn’t the first time Farage has experienced a serious accident. In 1985, he was involved in a car crash where he was thrown into the air and landed on a street curb, hitting his head after being hit by a Volkswagen Beetle.

Outlook on Life

Despite the challenges he has faced, Farage maintains a “devil may care” attitude. He believes that these experiences have shaped his perspective and influenced his decision to stand up for what he believes in, even if it makes him unpopular with some members of the public.

Farage’s resilience and determination are evident as he continues to compete on I’m A Celebrity, sharing his story and engaging in discussions with his fellow contestants.
