According to legal documents, Jamie Watson’s uninsured trailer truck became lodged in a ditch while attempting to turn into a private driveway. This obstruction caused both lanes of the US-51 motorway near Fluker, Louisiana, to be blocked. As a result, a speeding driver collided with another vehicle, leading to the deaths of Kaleb Collette and his passengers, Lee Ross and Kenneth Parnell.
Legal Battle and Settlement
Following the crash, a lawsuit was filed by the driver of the other vehicle, Corey David, against Watson, Collette’s mother, and all involved insurance companies. The lawsuit claimed that Watson was at fault for the collision due to multiple road violations. However, Watson’s lack of insurance coverage played a role in his removal from the lawsuit, which was eventually settled by David’s insurers. The legal papers also revealed a dispute between David and his insurers regarding fault for the crash.
No Citations and Dismissal from Suit
Despite the tragic nature of the crash, no citations were issued, and a police report indicated that no one was to blame. Jamie Watson was eventually dismissed from the lawsuit, with his attorneys stating that the driver of the other vehicle, Kaleb Collette, was entirely at fault and uninsured.
