LOVE Island viewers will be left shocked just minutes into the launch show – as cast are hit by a dramatic twist.

The show’s Creative Director Mike Spencer has revealed the first episode of the show – next Monday, 5 June at 9pm – will be unmissable with a never seen before shock for the islanders.

Maya Jama will be back to deliver the drama

The new cast will be entering the villa on Monday

Speaking to HOAR at the Love Island villa in Mallorca, Mike revealed: “It’s down to us as producers to switch up the format, keep it fresh and keep viewers on their toes. I think you can tune in on episode one and there are a few things you weren’t expecting.”

It was announced earlier this week that the public will get the chance to choose which islanders are coupled up by voting on the app – giving them the power to pair up the cast before the show even starts.

But Mike has promised a twist to stop the show being “predictable” – saying fans are in for a surprise.

“We know the public are going to couple up the islanders, but I think from the get-go the start of the show might be different,” he says.

“On the first day as well – I hope viewers will  be gobsmacked. It’s [bringing] twists on traditional formats and keeping islanders on their toes, because it can be predictable.”

Last series, when the show filmed in South Africa, fans were given the power to vote for a bombshell to bring into the villa after the first episode – choosing between Ellie Spence, 25, from Norwich, or 23 year old footballer Tom Clare – who went on to be a finalist with partner Samie Eilishi.

But Mike promises that series ten’s launch show will be even more explosive – adding “expect the unexpected, that’s all I’ll say.”

Love Island returns on Monday 5 June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
