LOVE Islands Ollie Williams has revealed that he and other contestants on the show were struck down by norovirus.

It comes after reports that crew were forced to be put in quarantine and producers on the ITV2 show are on high alert about the violent bug, which can be spread by kissing.

It has been claimed the boys were struck with the norovirus

Ollie, 23, who walked from the show last week because he realised he was still in love with his ex girlfriend Laura Nofer, believes that the stomach illness could have been spread by the water.

He said: “We all got norovirus, I definitely had a bad tummy, all the boys got it too.

“I had to a mad dash to the toilets one night. I dont know if it was the food, you obviously drink loads of water in there so it could have been that.

“It was over pretty quickly, but it was pretty ropey for a while.

The virus can be spread by kissing and other forms of human contact

“I think some of the girls may have got it too as I saw them running to the loos, but they weren’t as obvious as the lads.”

Producers spared the Love Island audience the gruesome scenes, with viewers oblivious to the illness when the show aired.

Norovirus is a very unpleasant stomach bug, with symptoms including projectile vomiting, and there is no cure.

However, the symptoms usually pass in a matter of days.

As with the summer version of the reality show producers closely monitor how much contestants drink.

However, despite voiceover man Iain Stirling’s insistence that the villa is largely booze-free, Ollie admitted that the cast got pretty wasted on the first night.

He said: “They monitor how much you drink but we all got wasted on the first night.

“Connor told me he didnt remember saying he had a threesome – we were so tipsy because more people bought in booze.”

The Sun revealed today that Ollie was back together with ex-girlfriend Laura, who he quit the show to be be with.

He explained how he called her as soon as he got his phone back – and has vowed to marry her.

Ollie explained: “I now realise that Laura is the girl I want to marry. I’m so grateful she has taken me back. We’re going to move in together in London over the next few months. I can’t wait to start a life with her.”
