LOVE Island fans were tonight left devastated after a fan favourite feature from last year went missing.

The hit ITV2 reality show was back on our screens for the second time this year with its summer season.

Love Island returned tonight for a second time this year – but was missing something

Fans were sad to see the Just Eat parrots had vanished

But as Love Island returned tonight, viewers noticed the cheeky parrots that featured in the show’s ad breaks to promote Just Eat had vanished.

The pair were a fan favourite last year, with their cheeky quips and singing.

However, they won’t be on the series this summer as Just Eat no longer sponsor Love Island – instead eBay have got the plum spot.

But fans are sad to see the parrots go.

Sharing a picture of the two cheeky parrots, one fan tweeted: “Going to miss singing along with these every ad break.”

Another viewer was equally sad to see them go, and said: “Where are the parrots?? They made the constant ad breaks more bearable!”

Another commented: “Nooo where are the parrots???!”

Love Island kicked off this evening by introducing a twist in the opening episode.

In a new shake-up, female and male Islanders entered the villa together.

It meant sparks could fly from the off between couples – as the original line-up format was ditched.

It meant viewers didn’t get to watch the girls line-up and step forward for boys they fancy.

Tonight host Maya Jama kicked off the series in an eye-popping, cut-out white dress from Cult Gaia as she made her entrance into the villa.

Her wardrobe is now so integral to the Love Island brand, Maya’s team run real-life tests to ensure her dresses will work on camera.

The strong winds in South Africa caused problems on January’s winter series launch, tugging at the thigh-high split of Maya’s black gown.

Meanwhile, this is the first time ever that Love Island has aired two series of the show in one year.

There was meant to be a second season of the reality series in the summer of 2020, after the winter version made its debut.

However, the pandemic hit, and Love Island didn’t return until the following year.

  • Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
