MOLLY Mae Hague’s puppy Mr Chai was healthy when Love Island star got him, his breeder has claimed.
The reality TV star and her boyfriend Tommy Fury were left devastated by their pet’s sudden death just days after he arrived from Russia.
They paid for a fast-track autopsy which revealed Chai’s skull wasn’t fully developed and had left part of his brain exposed.
Today the breeder claimed the Pomeranian was a “healthy, beautiful pup” – but Molly explained the autopsy proved Mr Chai was never going to survive.
Breeder Tiffany Puppies said in a statement on Instagram: “I am getting lots and lots of messages, calls, voicemails, emails from people wanting to know what is happening. And I truly appreciate your concerns.
“Apologies for the lack of communication, however I hope you can understand that Chai’s passing has really affected us massively and we just cannot understand why such a healthy beautiful pup passed so suddenly.
“Truth being told we are awaiting on full veterinary results and conclusion as we want to understand everything as things are currently not making sense.”
Mr Chai became a social media sensation in his short life, quickly achieving ‘influencer’ status after 150,000 people followed the account set up for him on Instagram.
But after he suddenly fell ill, Molly explained that she and boxer Tommy left him at the vets for treatment and got the devastating news he had died in a phone call the following morning.
In an emotional video on YouTube, she sobbed: “The vet rang up and said Chai had a seizure and he died. Tommy literally threw up everywhere.
“I was like: ‘It’s a prank’ as we get prank called all the time and she was like: ‘No, your dog has died.’”
Tommy and Molly have both quit social media as they take time to grieve for their beloved pup.
Boxer Tommy had given Mr Chai to Molly for her 21st birthday.
